So, the consensus is that the combo is awesome and works well, if you can get it set up right? Hmm, I am going to need @tysonja to come to my house to do it! :)

@Mrs Green Grass: you are SO not a bad mom!! it had horrible instructions and even the 'stroller experts' at the fancy baby store i bought it at couldnt figure it out and claimed that it didn't snap in and i should just use the safety strap clip. the only reason i persevered is because i had obsessively read about it a lot online. don't feel bad for even a second!

@sorrycharlie: there is an ACTUAL universal one now? that includes chicco? no way! that is awesome. so much easier to resell! we're getting the city select this summer for #2 and i hope they have it for that model, too!

sorry, was half asleep when i posted..lol. coming back for more!

i had a baby trend snap n go that i did like, but i used the city mini more and more. I didn't love that my coffee was above her in the snap n go, with the console i bought for the city mini (buggy buddy I think) it was below her feet. I wasn't as nervous about hitting a bump and having hot coffee or something splash on her. on that note, she (obviously) sat much higher in the city mini which I liked. I could talk to her, she was closer to me, and I could push her and hold a hand on her or hold the binky in, etc.

I got the universal carseat adapter (don't buy the old one!!) for around $45 with coupons during an amazon mom event. For me, it was worth every penny. I think we'll probably sell our snap n go!

Also, I made sure I had awhile to install it. The instructions on the new one might be easier, because I didn't find it particularly hard, though reviews have said it's impossible! The only part I found tricky to get the hang of was properly clicking it in - you just have to line up those little silver triangles on the carseat with the little divots on the carseat adapter frame. I can take pictures, if that would help!

I've heard a lot of problems with the adapter, but I think it's because of the bad instructions. My friend ended up returning her adapter and using the Chicco specific frame- it only cost slightly more than the adapter and was a lot easier to get in and out of the car anyway, and she liked the Chicco frame better than the universal Baby Trend one. BUT, she lives in the suburbs and mostly drove everywhere and would just wheel the baby into restaurants or stores or whatever, she wasn't usually going for long walks outside, which I think is where the City Mini would shine. But since the cost is very similar, and if you buy the separate frame you can always sell it after (plus you can probably buy it really cheap on Craigslist-- I just got a Baby Trend one for $30 and probably could have held out for cheaper) it's worth considering.

I second PP! I loved it! The new version is the universal adapter, and i had to read the directions carefully but with some practice it does click in.

We have the city mini with a chicco carseat too -- LOVE it.

Unfortunately the initial installation of the adapter can be a little tricky and there are a lot of unhappy customers online -- but it DOES snap in really snug and safe. You just have to manually adjust the side plastic things, sliding them back and forth on the metal bars until they line up with the snapping part on either side of the chicco seat. Umm not the best explanation there!
Once you get it lined up the first time we never had to readjust it ever again. It shouldn't wiggle at all, you should hear and feel when it snaps in, and you should be able to pick up the whole stroller by lifting up the carseat handle, no wiggling, without using the extra safety strap.

Hope that helps! I couldn't figure it out on my own, but my handy dh got it set up in a few minutes. They should have better instructions:P

Hope you enjoy the combo, I know we did!

I only use the City Mini with the Chicco adapter and I love both! There is a strap that you have to buckle around the whole thing for the seat to be 100% locked in (it clicks, but still has some leeway without the strap). The strap is annoying, but not a big deal.

I have the city mini parent console which works great.

We bought the adapter and couldn't figure it out- we got it to sort of work, but it didn't quite click in, and wasn't really solid although it was useable.
That said, I actually much, much preferred using our crappy, third-hand Snap and Go (not even the matching Chico one, I think we had a BabyTrend one?) with the infant seat. The Snap and Go had a huge and easily accessible basket (a major drawback of the City Mini), plus I liked the cupholder and space for phone/keys on the Snap and Go (if you want that stuff for the City Mini, it's an extra attachment you have to buy). We found a snap and go for free on our local moms listserv, so it was kind of a no brainer, and while I like the city mini now, I was much more pro- snap and go when we were using the infant seat.

We have the Citi Mini GT and a Chicco KeyFit 30. We bought the adapter and have had absolutely no problems with it. I just took LO on a 3 mile nature walk in it and it was great.

I'm posting all kinds of questions today! :)

I think we've decided on the City Mini stroller and the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat. However, there are some mixed reviews about the car seat adapter for the Chicco Key Fit to the City Mini. Any advice? Our other option is just to get the "snap and go" framer for the Chicco Key Fit along with the City Mini, but I'd rather just have one stroller.
