When I lived in the city, we didn't have a car and we did just fine walking around the neighborhood, taking the bus/train, or cabs. Other parents we knew who had cars mostly used them to get out of the city on the weekends.

It's pretty easy without a car when you have one baby. When #2 came around, it was harder for me to go out of our neighborhood alone with them, but I managed! Babywearing is something I did a lot too.

I do. But I also have parking. We pay for two spaces. If I didn't have parking I probably wouldn't keep a car. I actually haven't tried to take LO on the T yet but have been thinking of it more and more. I hate the idea of bringing a stroller on the subway, but he's getting big/not so easy to carry for extended periods of time.

Obviously, I am obsessed with figuring out where to live, since 98% of my posts are about it one way or another!

So, my question for moms who live in the city with their LO-- do you have a car? How often do you drive? Is it more than you did pre-LO? Is it more than you expected to, pre-LO? Tell me the pros and cons and how things changed once LO arrived.

This comes up right now for me because we are moving, staying in the city near public transportation, and I am trying to figure out realistically how much I'll be driving. I hate driving with a passion, but I know some things are just going to be easier to accomplish with LO in a car than in the stroller or in the carrier. If I will be driving more, it makes having a private parking spot more important. I'm not sure how much I'll want to take a baby on public transportation, which is my primary way of getting around now. Ugh-- I just want to know where I'll be living!
