i'm just going to try all the configurations possible and see what DD1 likes the best. i'll have the car seat attachment for DD2 when she's born and probably have the seat in the front for DD1 to get in and out of on her own. probably like this (not my photo!):

@rattles: Thank you so much for the pic, that is very helpful and I can see DS enjoying having his own basket! I might see if they will let me set it up that way and take him for a ride around the store

@Bubbles: We had a City Mini until our second was born too. She didn't love facing the bassinet, but she got used to it, and it was temporary. Plus it meant she could reach into the basket beneath the bassinet, so she took advantage of that for toy/book storage. Here's a pic for reference:

Thanks so much guys!

@rattles: Was your DD really close to the bassinet when RFing and sitting upright? Maybe DS wouldn't mind it so much - I am just assuming as he has only ever FF'd in the city mini!

I used it with an infant car seat and a toddler so not a bassinet. But I think the only way to recline the toddler would be to turn it backwards. There was def no room to recline forward facing.

It isn't too bad pushing both of them. Our almost 3 yr old usually sits in the front and it is heavier when she's in it but it's not hard pushing them.

We love the city select and would recommend it!

It isn't possible to have the bassinet on the top and to have the toddler seat facing out simultaneously. The height/recline of the seat even at its most straight hits the bassinet. DD1 had to RF and face the bassinet for the few months it was in use. It's one of my complaints about the system, though I do love it overall.

ETA: now that we are out of the bassinet, I use it exactly the way you're describing.

I have the City Select because we anticipated having two kids close in age. #2 isn't due till March, but I'm planning on having her at the top setting facing me, and DS on the bottom/front seat facing out so he can climb in and out. I haven't tried the recline position with both settings in place yet so can't comment on that.

As for balancing, I think you'll be okay! The wheels are large and the frame itself is built to accommodate something like this.

So I was pretty set on getting a mountain buggy duet for my toddler and newborn due in February - but today we went to the shop and tried strapping DS into one and he is far too wide for it! His whole arm was sticking into the next door seat and he was just so cramped. So that one is out the window - especially as DS2 is already looking on the larger side!

I also looked at the city select, but I'm a bit confused as to the best way to configure it for a baby and toddler...

Ideally I'd like to have baby facing me (in the bassinet at first) and toddler facing out - but for both to have the ability to recline for napping - but it doesn’t seem like this would be possible?

Any bees who have one, how do you have the seats set up for your baby and toddler? And is it difficult to push with a heavy toddler on the front?

Thank you!
