@travellingbee: don't stress! My 9 month old just started trying to clap, but he doesn't do some of the other things your LO does like walking with our fingers, waving, or throwing a ball. Babies are different!

@JerricaBenton: We sing it incessantly. He thinks it's funny, but no desire to clap. :/
@Mrs. Blue: Yeah. Stubborn babies... He'll give me a high five.

Sing 'if you're happy and you know it' They sang it in our music class and it turned LO into a clapping machine :-) I wouldn't worry at 10 months though, especially if he's clapping toys together.

My almost 9 month old did it once the other day when LO was doing it next to her. I know it was a fluke and I won't see it again for a few months!

@travellingbee: The boys won't clap either. Interestingly, they will hit my open hand with theirs and make a clapping sound, but refuse to clap themselves. I think it's because they know I want them to!

No clapping here at 11 months. I'm not too worried as she's on target for her other milestones. Honestly, I think with some of the stuff she's been a bit behind with and then caught up on she's just not seen the point of what we're trying to get her to do. She's a lady who knows her own mind, and clapping is not on her agenda right now.

I don't think you need to worry! Some babies focus on other things. Like Xander can clap, but he's JUST pulled himself up to standing at 10 months and is no where NEAR walking like L is!

@travellingbee: I wouldn't stress about stuff like that! Kids are SO different from each other. I was feeling all proud my 8-month-old started clapping until we spent time with a friend this weekend who has a kid born the same day, and her baby is standing unassisted and doing all of these other things LO can't do (but not clapping, LOL). I just think it's too hard to set really specific guidelines for these things!

@MrsRcCar: Ah that makes me feel better! Thanks. That is how it seems with ours-- like he could but he just isn't interested.

I know they all do things in their own time, but then you also read that XYZ are red flags for Autism so it's hard to just sit back and relax!

LO is 10 months old and refuses to clap. I assume he physically could since he whacks his wooden balls together to make them clink. He is not delayed in anything else- walking with a push toy and on our fingers, says many consonant sounds, throws a ball, can put things into containers and take them out, and can wave (although rarely does when we want him to) but for some reason he won't clap!! I keep reading people saying that their 6 month olds can clap so I am starting to stress! Anyone else's kiddos not clap until later like ours?
