@Foodnerd81: I don't think it's too much. I actually prefer it for a Dec baby vs my May baby :)

@78h2o: I like Holly but the baby is due a week before Christmas, so it could be a little much. Though I'd consider Noelle as a middle name.

@Foodnerd81: congratulations on your girl! I like classic names too. We named our first Julia. I wanted Clara for our second, but my husband nixed it. We ended up naming our second Holly after a friend of mine who had passed. I also really like Grace (which was another dream DH dashed, lol!).

If you don't use Grace, here are some other ideas...

Clara & Elise (my fav!)
Clara & Rebecca
Clara & Susannah
Clara & Lauren
Clara & Lucia
Clara & Julia
Clara & Maye

Less classic, but your husband might like:
Clara & Alyssa
Clara & Alison nn Ali
Clara & Morgan

@Mrs.KMM: I really like Paige but Dh doesn't.

@lemondrop: @youboots: we do both like Alice and have discussed it. But it somehow seems meh with our last name, like it needs some sound that pops. But it's not it of the running.

A few more ideas... I think a short name might be nice to go with your DDs name. Check out one of those name sites that show the bell curve for popularity- I'm in the same camp that Alicia is no good while Alice is certainly lovely.

Alicia does sound a bit 80's. Plus it's not a good choice if you are concerned about people misspelling it. They will. A lot.

A few ideas:
Delilah
Mae
Fiona
Vivienne
Marigold

I would say Charlotte and Evelyn too but they're incredibly popular.

@Foodnerd81: we went with the Lyla spelling because it makes the pronunciation more obvious. I do get the Lila misspelling sometimes, but that wasn't as big a deal to me. I want substitute teachers to be able to say it correctly haha ;)

Also, her middle name is Grace. I call her Lyla Grace a lot of the time. I love how they flow together! :)

This thread has made me realize DH totally has a little bit of an 80s preference. He also liked Jason for a boy which felt weird to me- we weren't naming someone from our generation! I agree that Alicia feels like she should be 30, not a newborn.

@Mrs. Lion: love Lyla but I worry people would misspell it a lot. Do you run into that?

@Mrs. Deer: love both of your daughters names! Rose is definitely on the maybe list (for me at least).

Also adding Ruby to my list.

It was so much easier with Clara. Like, I saw it somewhere, thought hmmm, that's really pretty. Said to DH, how about Clara? He said, yeah, and suggested the same middle name I was thinking of, and done.

Congrats @foodnerd81...how exciting! My name is Caroline and my grandma was Clara, so I'm liking your style! As you know I'm having a boy, which I'm finding difficult to think of names for, but I had quite a few girls names that I like that I think are similar to the ones you've mentioned: Lydia, Emma, Ruth, Olivia, Eliza, Margaret, Grace and Violet. My favourites are Grace and Lydia, so I think your choice of Grace is lovely :)

Looking at the suggestions so far, my thoughts are that Stella and Eleanor are really popular. I LOVE both Ruby and Margot, and think they go with Grace as a middle, as well as fit nicely with Clara. Ruby Grace makes me swoon
