@muffinsmuffins: Ugh, stomach virus is the worst. If you're worried the bleach you're using isn't working, try this: https://www.amazon.com/Clorox-Healthcare-Hydrogen-Peroxide-Disinfectant/dp/B00C2UGRLM?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2

It's hydrogen peroxide spray, made to kill norovirus. It also comes in wipes. We have both, and will wipe down everything - everything! - with these after an incident. We also use medical gloves when cleaning the really bad messes.

I’m so sorry - this happened to us where it kept getting picked back up. The three kids and I all got it, but other than me getting it quickly from the baby (because I cleaned her pacifier with my mouth right before she started ... ) it was a slow spread, we kept thinking it was gone but nope. Not only can it live on surfaces a long time it can be shed in diapers for like a month after. We went to my MIL’s memorial service out of town a week after the last puke and my mom changed some diapers and she started throwing up on her drive back home! And she was mostly watching the kids so I doubt she got it elsewhere. So it’s just evil but thank goodness it will eventually die no matter what. I read you only get about three months of immunity before you can get it again :bummed:

@Mrs. Champagne: @bees_knees: @MrsSRS: @Shantuck: yes I used multi purpose bleach cleaner, not wipes and did the water/bleach soak for all toys. I did not do hot water for laundry, but high setting on the dryer. I feel like I’ve done all I can really but I still feel terrible.

I’m sorry your baby got sick! That must have been the worst! This is the first time we all got taken out and it totally ruined everything for sure so I get what you’re saying

Agree with @MrsSRS. The norovirus can linger for a couple weeks after you are better (not sure if that is what you had). I'd probably just try to lay low for a bit and not invite anyone else into your home for a couple weeks to minimize exposure. If it is norovirus, bleach is the only thing that would work against it but obviously you can't bleach everything in your home.

Ugh! So sorry you had that over the holidays. I hosted 7 out-of-town guests in addition to my family of 4 for Christmas in 2016 (we hosted so my husband's family could meet our 8 week old baby) and my nephew shared the norovirus with us. Only three of us didn't end up getting it (the baby was not spared, which was a terrifying experience at such a young age) and it was legit the worst Christmas I have ever had. That was my first and last time hosting a holiday!

Yeah norovirus can live on hard surfaces for almost a month. Bleach water. Google the right ratio.

@muffinsmuffins: I agree that people are probably picking it up from somewhere else...'tis the season :meh: The only thing I'd add is to make sure you're using bleach, and not Clorox wipes, etc, because those don't actually kill Norovirus :bummed: Stomach bugs are the WORST!

The adults probably got it from somewhere else, not your home. Especially with the holidays and visiting people, it could have come from any where! Out of my 7 best friends, everyone single family was hit (and not from each other!) over the last two weeks. It’s flying around.

Bleach everything (like you have!) and wash linens and that’s all you can do. I think it only lasts a couple weeks on surfaces that weren’t cleaned, anyways. Good luck! 😬

As many of you know, we all got taken out by a nasty GI but over the holidays. We waited over 48 hours to travel after last incident and I bleached all our switches, doorknobs and bathrooms, counters at home, all laundry done. We travelled for 3 days to my parents and my dad wasn’t well when we arrived, ended up sick from my aunt who also had a stomach thing. Then also my grandma got the same thing. Got home, I re-cleaned and washed everything including disinfecting toys. We hosted New Year’s Day brunch with friends 8 days after last puke: 3 adults are now sick with same as we had! We also had our regular house cleaners come today so in all my main level has been cleaned thoroughly 2x, bathrooms 3x. All laundry, etc. I’m legit terrified now that we’ve infected everyone and our house will never be safe again. What would you do to ensure this stops?! I feel absolutely awful...it’s definitely going around and everyone has kids so possible it came from other places? I’m picturing opening up my Xmas decor next year and germ clouds flying out 😱😱😱
