Baking soda and vinegar. It requires more elbow grease, but it really gets the tub squeaky clean!

I've cleaned with baking soda & vinegar two days after DH uses the chemical stuff and scrubbed up a nasty brown film. Yuck! Bubbles can't scrub sh*t.

A few months ago we bought a box of the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They have one in there specifically for bathrooms. It worked amazingly. I used to use the Lysol but it literally made me choke, so I stopped. I think hubs still uses the Lysol but now that I'm pregnant, I won't go near it. I stick with the Magic Eraser and I think it does a bang-up job. It got scum up that I hadn't been able to get for years.

I always have a shower scrub brush hanging on my shower door. Occasionally, when I am in the shower, I give a specific area a good scrub down, using just the water from the shower and my brush. Then I spray down the shower afterwards with one of those sprayers that are used to maintain the cleanliness.

i use method tub & tile spray and a long handled scrubber thing then rinse it using the shower head. a long time ago, i had a cheap toilet brush that was only for cleaning the tub. maybe my arms are short or something, but i find it uncomfortable to try to bend over & reach to get at all of it with a sponge.

I'm such a horrible thread starter! I completely forgot about this thread! sorry =/

We have Lysol bathroom cleaner but the smell is SO strong! I ended up using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser this time. I hate cleaning the stupid tubs and now I have to do it again because I don't feel like the erasers did a good enough job.

Ugh. I hate cleaning the tub. That's one thing I don't touch and let the cleaners handle. I feel so bad for them.

When we don't have cleaners, I usually either do the scrubbing bubbles shower spray (but that gets expensive) or get a handheld shower spray. I do the spray after every shower (or Wagon Sr. sprays, whoever had the last shower). When things do build up I use this big huge scrubbing brush I got with Kaboom or whatever I have on hand. I usually do this before a shower, NAKED, so that I can shower right after and feel good about myself (and I don't have to worry about getting all wet and/or sweaty doing it).

The directions are fairly vague, but this stuff worked great for us! I hear it also kills ants really well :) Hence why I rinse the tub really well after- leave the shower running for 5-10 minutes.

I normally use Method Tub and Tile with a bristle brush to scrub everything down. Then we use the Method daily shower spray stuff for maintenance. It really does extend the time needed between scrubbings for us.

@lemondrop: I have a big box of that stuff from a failed attempt at making my own detergent (as in I never got around to it). I should try that out!

I searched in Pinterest a while back about this- 20 mule team borax (laundry aisle for like $5) works the best for me. Sprinkle on a damp tub and scrub with a stiff brush then rinse out for a little while, it works great!

Oh dear. I'm moving and need to scrub down my shower... And I can't handle fumes of any sort. I can't use the shower spray, and my husband never remembers. (I suspect this plays a huge role in my mom's decision to trek halfway across the country in helping me move. I haven't quite caught up to her OCD clean-all-the-things yet, but I'm getting there.)

I sprinkle a healthy dose of baking soda, then a 1/2 a cup or so of vinegar and scrub, scrub, scrub. I do the bathtub this way once a week. No fumes, and works well.

I second Kaboom but you have to make sure you have your windows open and time for your bathroom to air out!

Kaboom works really well on shower scum but it's releases a lot of fumes. I only use it when the shower's been severely neglected. Just spray it on and lightly scrub.

For hard-water stains, I use a pumice stick (they make some specifically for toilets) and that works amazingly well.
