Not sure if it's a schedule as such but here's my loose routine...

Tuesday - LO's laundry
Wednesday - Big people laundry
Thursday - Vacuuming and mopping floors
Friday - LO's laundry
Saturday - Big people laundry and any linens, towels etc.

I do the bathrooms as needed and run the dishwasher most days which keeps the kitchen pretty tidy.

This is mine, copied and pasted from a sticky on my desktop!:

Every day: vacuum downstairs, wipe kitchen counters, pick up playroom after bedtime
Sunday - Weed and clean up outside / Laundry
Monday - Clean Kitchen
Tuesday - Clean Living Room & Entryway / Clean downstairs bath / water plants inside
Wednesday - clean master bath & bed & vacuum upstairs / laundry
Thursday - clean all windows downstairs / Sweep off back & front porch
Friday - LO's room & bath / Vacuum upstairs / Clean playroom/ Laundry
Saturday - Clean living room / water inside plants

Each task (except the kitchen) takes me 30 minutes-1 hour, so LO's morning nap.

This is mine. I like the rotating schedule because if I miss a day I can just pick right back up and not miss any tasks or have to double up or figure out how to alter the schedule so it all gets done. I tried to break it up so I wasn't doing the same thing every day.

I use the Home Routine app on my phone. You can customize your daily chores, check them off as you go, and it will automatically reset the next day. There are weekly chores (vacuum, mop etc), as well as a "focus zone" - bathroom, closet, pantry...that you work on every day for a week. The next week it rotates to the next focus zone. There's a timer which is super helpful!

I do the list thing when I have specific things that need to get done (I do the same thing for work!)

I printed this calendar a few months ago because it seemed really doable with small tasks and I liked the top/down method http://makinglemonadeblog.com/free-printable-spring-cleaning-calendar/

Now...if only I ever actually followed it...

It doesn't follow the usual upkeep so much, but I like the idea of scheduling these types of things outside of dusting/vacuuming, etc. that I tend to do even less often.

The same blogger has sheets for specific months too (the january one helps clean up from the holidays, get ready for taxes, etc.)

@alohaorchid: That's what I want to start doing - at least 1 task per day, and just *know* that I have to do it that day. It's so daunting to get started though. I should make a list like you mentioned, and divide it out!

I used to be ridiculously busy and never had a spare moment and what I did was gave myself 30 minutes everyday to get cleaning done. I would time myself (say from 9-9:30pm) and if I was in the mood to keep going great, but if not then I wouldn't let myself feel bad about it. I found that I could actually get a good clean in during that time and I would almost compete with myself to see how much I could get done. Then on the weekend I would give myself 3 hours for the entire weekend and I could split it however I wanted, I acually got a lot done this way.

Another thing I have done is made a list of all of the cleanin that has to be done in a week and assigned myself one (or two, depending on what it is) task per day to get through. I always knew that Monday was dusting, Tuesday was bathrooms, etc.

I know this thread pops up every once in a while, but I haven't seen a new one lately!

Does anyone have some sort of weekly cleaning schedule that works for them? I'd love to start improving my household cleaning, and have seen weekly cleaning schedules on Pinterest that seem nice. When I really start looking at them though... they seem a bit unrealistic! During the week I don't stop moving until almost 8 when both girls are in bed - I don't want to spend 2 hours cleaning each night!

Sooo... wondering if anyone has put together and been successful with something more manageable/more realistic? I'd love to hear what others are doing (or commiseration from other serious cleaning failures... haha).
