@Andrea: Oh that is a great tip! I was just wondering about this.

For those stuffed toys that explicitly say do not wash in the machine can I just use baby wipes to wipe down?

How have you been cleaning wood toys? I just wiped it down with baby wipes.

I don't either, maybe once a year? O_O For any other lazy moms like me out there, my best friend in college has the worst allergies. Her mom sanitized all her stuff regularly. Her younger sister...not so much. Her mom was tired of cleaning things when she had two kids. ;)

@boobs - nope, not long. To give you an idea, I have mopped the hardwood floors of my entire apartment with vinegar and the smell went away quickly.

I was wondering this myself, these are some great tips! For those that use vinegar, does the smell linger for long?

I steam stuff that I can in our bottle sterilizer.

Our LO is just getting over his first cold, this weekend I plan to rinse what I can with a bleach solution and wash all the plush stuff he's touched.

either soap and warm water, or wipe with vinegar. i'm not really diligent anymore now that charlie is past the putting things in his mouth stage.

I usually wash plastic toys with warm water and soap. I wipe the toys on her exersaucer with water and vinegar since they're impossible to remove.
Stuffed animals I'll throw in the washing machine and wash with organic baby detergent.

I throw everything I can in the dishwasher, top rack. For stuffed animals I secure them in a pillow case and put them in the washing machine, but air dry.

For things than can only be wiped down I use the Dapple Toy Cleaner Wipes because I am lazy! Otherwise, soap, vinegar, diluted bleach are good, too.

Seems like these days all I'm doing is trying to catch up on the endless list of chores. Now to add to it, I'm also cleaning and sanitizing DD's toys regularly.

What have you found to be the best way to clean kids toys? Do you just use warm soap and water? Anyone use bleach or vinegar? Does anyone know if we can throw the plastic toys in the dishwasher?

I'm just trying to find the best and safest way to clean her toys!
