I bought my monitor about 4 cycles into the process and it was really nice to use (i.e. took the work out of things). I always got highs (although sometimes 4-5 instead of 2) before the peak days. It's nice because it's giving you that extra warning so that you can BD, but I wouldn't recommend it for people who have normal cycles (say if you charted enough to know when you ovulate). In that case an OPK is way cheaper. If you're unsure of if/when you're ovulating it's certainly a great tool. I do know that with diagnosed PCOS it is not recommended because it can show an LH surge but it doesn't prove that you actually ovulated. Only a Progesterone test or ultrasound can do that definitively.

@littlek: that's not unusual, from what I've heard, the first month to be weird because it's still learning your cycle. Also depo takes awhile for your body to regulate after.

This is an old thread, but I did buy one. I didn't get a peak reading my first cycle, could have been that I didn't ovulate (I often don't) or that it didn't catch it 'cause it was still learning my cycle. I did get a peak last cycle & I find it much easier than OPK strips. My acupuncturist/Chinese medicine fertility dr strongly recommends the monitor for everyone, even those with PCOS. Those damn sticks get $$$, but I buy them on eBay because they seem to have the least expensive ones. It has a pretty high resale value, so if you buy one & it doesn't work out, you can still recoup some of your investment.

I had one and I had PCOS. I never got a positive ovulation. It would take too many days between cycles. So it was a waste of money for me. But it was really easy to use so that's a positive.

I have PCOS and my Dr. told me it would be a pointless purchase. If you read the directions available online, you'll see my Dr. was right - it isn't designed for people with irregular cycles at all.

I went to a fertility center so they monitored my follicle growth then I used digital and cheapie OPK's to determine ovulation. They worked great. Actually the digital OPK's would start giving me error messages when I was about to ovulate, so I would have to switch to a cheapie to see the darkness of the lines. If I hadn't been monitored at a fertility center, I would have signed up for fertility friend and ordered a bunch of wondfo OPK's to predict ovulation.

I have been using mine for almost a month now and I'm still undecided. It has shown that I have had high fertility for over 10 days but no peak fertility and I'm now on day 29... odd... I'm wondering if I'm not using it right or my body is screwed up after depo.

I have used mine for 2 cycles so far. I was really excited about it because I had been using OPK but because of my crazy night shift schedule where I don't see my husband I thought a couple extra days of trying would be useful. Unfortunately is hasn't worked out so great for me so far.. The first month it never read a low day, all highs and peaks so didn't really trust it and ended up using OPKs with it. Second month using it it went from a low day straight to a peak with no highs in between. But I also went on vacay without it so I had to tel it I was on CD 5 when I was really on CD 8 so it may have confused it. I also worry my hormones are off which may make it read weird...Anways, it does say in the pamphlet though that is doesn't work with PCOS so I wouldn't want you to waste you money since it is expensive!

It did work better for me than OPKs because it gave me more notice of O day - 5 days instead of 1-2. BFP with the first cycle using it. I don't know if it works with PCOS though :(

i got mine new from amazon and continue to order the test sticks from amazon too. i don't have PCOS but like that i don't have to decipher lines and that it's very straight forward. my cycle is very regular though so not sure about those with extra long cycles.

Using it for baby #2, I found it quite helpful last time around for #1 (new from Amazon).

Took us about 4 months using it, not sure if I credit it as our success or just dumb luck and taking a break from work and temping, but it helped nail down good days to have a little fun.

I buy the 20 pack digital CBE OPK's at Wal-mart, they work fine with it. I like that it can pick up your patterns, and find it more helpful than just the little smiley face that only measures one day.

I just ordered one this weekend. I got it from Sam's Club online for $169, including some test strips & Pregnancy tests. It supposedly works with FMU. I may not be ovulating and was never sure with the cheapie strip OPK's, so I decided it was worth the expense to get better info. Good luck!

i have one, and this was my 3rd month using it.

i got it off of ebay - new, for $150, and it came with 40 test sticks (if you want, i can give you the seller's name - he normally has them for sale)

i've liked it so far, in that it kind of takes the guess work out of it - it clearly shows the "peak" days and "high" days, no deciphering necessary - however, i haven't used the "smiley face" test sticks, and they seem like they would have the same kind of assurance. i was using the 2 stripe ovulation sticks for a while, but was driving myself crazy with the comparison to determine which day was the O day

it normally asks you for 10 sticks a cycle, which assumes that you'll ovulate sometime between CD8 - 18. if you don't in that time, it will ask for another 10 sticks

they say that it doesn't work well if your cycle is over 42 days, because the 20 test sticks will possibly not catch your O.

hmmm that's all i can think of, let me know if you have any other questions!

anyone have one? was it worth the $$ over regular OPKs? did it give you any info you couldn't get from cheapie OPK strips?

where did you get yours and how much was it? i've seen them all over the place as far as price and the test strips to use with it seem pricey too.

does anyone know if it works for people with PCOS? haha, i guess if you had one, just tell me about your thoughts on it! =D
