It is cute, but this is a little too close to "chores as punishment" for me. My kids will be expected to do laundry, help clean the kitchen/bathroom, etc. without the thought that they are earning anything.

I like this idea if it's a not-so-bad of a crime. A bad crime still deserves more time to me ;) Or LOTS of points that will take a few days.

I like this idea! I think it's great for minor infractions and I like @snowjewelz: idea of using it to earn things. If there's something big they want and I don't want to buy this could really work.

@Chillybear: I like that too. I bet a child that has trouble listening or remembering to pick up their toys will start remembering!

@swurlygurl: I agree that it shouldn't be applicable in every situation! But for minor infractions or multiple infractions regarding the things on the list (ie not doing your chores when you're supposed to, not extending kindness to your family members, etc) I think it's a great idea!

I saw an interesting one on pinterest - Leave your toys out and they get stored in the giant tupperware bin and you must do chores to "unlock" them

I like the idea of earning X number of points by doing various tasks as a punishment for getting in trouble. I think it should be its own form of punishment though: for certain 'crimes' you get this opportunity to get your freedom back. I don't believe ALL groundings should be able to be bought with chores.
And I would have different tasks on my list, because I think kids should be expected to do the majority of those cleaning tasks anyway!

I like it! Especially if the reason for punishment is rudeness or not doing chores etc...I feel like that's a god way to encourage the behavior ypu want to see! I also like that it keeps me from having to decide how long they should be grounded for :silly:

Agree that it depends what crime they have committed. I think maybe instead of as a way to get ungrounded, maybe it can be a way to earn something instead.

@MrsBrewer: good point. I guess it would depend on the infraction.

I like this idea, but I guess depending on what they did to get grounded in the first place, I wonder if they are really learning their lesson. Or if it's more of a "well if I stay out past my curfew, I will just have to do some chores around the house"

Mom makes a list of ways her kids can get themselves off punishment and it's brilliant.

http://lynettesnewhobby.blogspot.com/2014/04/grounded.html

I thought this was so clever. I'd totally do something like this when she gets older.

Thoughts?
