My daughter has gone through a couple clingy phases and is in one right now. They usually pass in a week or two. I think it hurts DH's feelings when he tries to hold her and she says no and grabs onto me, but there's not much to be done about it! Out of sight, out of mind though -- if I'm not around, she's totally fine.

He maybe dealing with his new mobility/ability to separate by needing more of you when you are near. Soon he may have more confidence in himself and not cling.

Are you getting regular fun, quality time with him? Sometimes kids will be "clingy" because they don't feel they've gotten to interact/be with you as much as they need.

T (13 months) is showing a lot of clinginess to me lately. He used to warm up to everyone and although he was affectionate to DH and me, he was never overly attached and was very independent.

Now he has become obsessively clingy to just me when a stranger is around, or just day to day play. He used to play by himself for a long time until I would voluntarily join him, but now he barely plays alone at all...always motioning or whining for me to join (or hold him). I think the difference is that he's now mobile. He can army crawl wherever he wants now. It's gotten to where I have to separate myself a lot during his EI sessions and at his baby gymnastics class. He won't function with DH or the instructors/therapist because he wants to just be with me and play with me.

He goes to daycare 4 days a week and is fine all day when I'm gone, but is hesitant to go to the babysitter when I'm there. I usually have to put him on the floor and let him get distracted with toys and sneak out. I miss saying goodbye to him! His babysitter assures me that he's completely fine after I leave and doesn't look for me.

Any advice? I'm getting worn out!!
