This is starting to happen to us now too. I attribute it to starting preschool and knowing that a new baby is coming. She's always leaned towards me since I'm home with her, but the past couple of weeks has been really more extreme.

My LO was clingy and sassy before DS arrived. Except for one major tear fest (for all) when she first saw me nurse DS the transition has gone really well. She's and DH are best buddies now. I finally worked in some one on one girl time a couple weeks ago and she didn't want to leave DH and brother at home. It has gone much more smoothly than I expected. LO1 has been at FT daycare so far.

E is hardcore #teamMOMMY right now, all the time, but especially at night. It's exhausting, and it hurts D's feelings :(

@Adira: luckily my sisters are my best friends so I am really happy she will get to have a sister, which makes me not really feel guilty or anything. The idea of seeing them together is what's really getting me through these last ten weeks or so.

@Foodnerd81: The first week or two he was pretty distracted with all the visitors but then yeah from about weeks 2-6 he was pretty clingy, acting like the baby or acting out while I was nursing. Then something clicked and it was like he decided to be a big boy again and we were good. :)

@Foodnerd81: After Logan was born, we went through a few weeks of Xander acting out and hitting us. :( Then he went through a daddy preference because I was always busy and nursing. Now Logan is 10 months and Xander's back to loving us both equally I think and snuggling me on the couch.

And YES - those hormones are brutal! I would stay awake at night and cry about how things were going to change for Xander and how horrible I felt about it. It gets better! Seeing your two little ones love each other and play together is the greatest thing in the world. <3

@Baby Boy Mom: @Adira: what happened after baby was born? Did they switch to a daddy preference or at least chill out? There is no one I can be this attached to her and care for and breastfeed a new baby.

Also, hormones. Singing to her before her nap this afternoon I looked at her perfect little face snuggled up with me and started crying because her time as an only child is coming to an end and one day I won't be able to snuggle her like this. And one day she won't want me to snuggle her. And I'm crying a little bit just typing this.

Did you toddler get super clingy towards the end of your pregnancy with second (third, fourth) babies? Develop an even stronger mommy preference?

My 2 year old has been in a crazy mommy phase lately. She refuses to hug DH (though will happily play with him and laugh and squeal when the tickle monster comes out). Meanwhile she's sitting practically on top of me any time I sit in the couch, and has been asking more and more to be picked up. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and she's 28 lbs, so I'm trying to limit the picking up but spend loads of time snuggled in the couch with her reading books.

She's also waking a lot more at night and we have to go and lay down with her to get her back to sleep.

Just wondering how common it is for the older LO to get extra clingy and mommy mommy before a new baby arrives. I'm trying to just embrace the snuggles for now but I wish she wouldn't reject Dh so much. :bummed:
