I couldn't tell time for years, despite my teacher using the Judy clock. I learned better when it was real time. The hands confused me. When it was real time I had a better concept of what time it should be so it was easier to read the clock

Definitely a Judy clock! They are perfect for what you are describing. They're super sturdy and are made for hundreds of kids to use, so they tend to really last. I found this one of amazon.

@regberadaisy: my patents taught me with a magnadoodle. Multi-functional toy, so that might work. Or what about just a cheap clock that has a removable face so you can adjust the time? http://m.target.com/p/wall-clock-8-inch-black-round/-/A-11214172. Nice and cheap in case in gets destroyed! :)

@LilSprinkles: @matador84: thank you thank you! That is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm stretching and considering this her "need" for Christmas. Haha it's educational, right? ;)

@MoonMoon: thanks! I want something sturdier that will last a while. My 3.5 year old and 14m would probably tear the foam one up within a day!

Judy clocks are ones that many schools use when teaching time. They also have ones that are similar to Judy clocks, but have a wipe off part to write the digital time too.

@regberadaisy: We got a foam Dr Seuss one from the $1 bins at target! You can move the hands, so I figured we didn't need anything fancier.

I'm thinking about getting My 3.5 year old a clock to teach her about telling time. We already refer to the clock for bedtime. How much time is left, etc. so she is familiar with the big hand and little hand. I want one where all the pieces stay together and the hands are movable.

Any ideas on where I can find something like this? I'm not liking the Melissa and Doug one because the numbers are puzzle pieces that come off.
