@Jruess: I've had both a clogged duct and a cyst while breastfeeding, and that sounds like a cyst. It is important to get it checked out, though, to make sure it's just a benign cyst. They have always been able to tell right away with mine on ultrasound.

I would encourage you to get an ultrasound to make sure it's not something else.

Thanks for the responses! I really think it must be something else. I'll have to call the OB again and see if I get a different response.

Very similar experience happened to a good friend of mine - the OB sent her for a mammogram and it ended up being a cyst that she will eventually have drained. Sounds more like that than a clogged duct!

My clogged ducts have always been super painful. Plus if you leave them clogged I think they get larger. If massaging and warm compress doesn't change the lump, maybe you can call your OB again and get it examined.

Mine have always been terribly painful and the skin feels really tight from the engorgement. I did have possibly a partial blockage and a bleb, but milk flowed, so there was no pain there, just at the tip

Is it possible to have a clogged duct for multiple weeks with little to no pain?

I found a lump in my left breast 3 weeks ago. I've had little to no pain associated with it and from what I can tell, the size has not changed. I'm breastfeeding my 8 month old so my initial thought was a clogged duct but never had pain. I called my ob today to see if they'd move my annual exam up to have it looked at. They suggested a warm compress and massage assuming it's a clogged duct. It doesn't seem like that is it to me but I have never experienced a clogged duct. Anyone else have a similar experience?
