please please please keep an eye on that lump. My SIL was just diagnosed with breast cancer at 31, 18 months postpartum, and they thought the lump was just a calcification, they did a biopsy and it turned out to be cancerous. I would say if it isn't better after another month go back and demand a biopsy.

@JMOM: Mine are nowhere close to totally shut off. Which is making a really nasty environment for the inverted nipple. Like if your belly button also made tiny amounts of milk. I’ll keep an eye on the lump. Thanks!

@Corduroy: I'm glad it turned out to be something treatable. Although if the lump doesn't go away it would probably be worth a mammogram, just for peace of mind. Sorry if this is TMI but I stopped breastfeeding 4 years ago and I can still get a tiny bit of stuff out of the side that I had the lump removed so I don't think they just shut off when you wean.

@JMOM: Thanks for your response.

I just got out of my appointment. I could tell the nurse taking down my info was prepping for a mammogram/biopsy conversation. Fortunately the doctor thinks it’s a slight fungal infection. I’m supposed to wash my nipple in dilute hydrogen peroxide and use an antifungal like tinactin if the hydrogen peroxide doesn’t work on it right away. I hate this nipple but I’m relieved it’s just more nipple issues.

About a year after I weaned my first I found a lump, I had a biopsy and it turned out to be benign. Mine didn't hurt but the lump was large enough for me to notice it. I'm not sure what doctor I went to first, but I think the obgyn is a good choice.

My breast with an inverted nipple has been bothering me for about a month. I weaned over a year ago. This morning I picked DS up and the weight of him against my breast actually hurt. I can feel a small lump under the nipple. I made a dictor appt with an OBGYN tomorrow. Anyone deal with breast stuff way after weaning? Did I make an appointment with the right doctor?
