I was 20 pounds above my ideal weight when I used clomid to conceive my daughter. Being overweight can certainly be a factor holding you back from ovulating, but many people have success with clomid despite a few extra pounds.

I was overweight when TTC my son. I had to resort to clomid to ovulate, and it took on the second cycle.

Losing weight did help, though, cause dd was a surprise. Dh and I thought I had the same issues with fertility. We were wrong, lol.

@KT326: Thank you for the link. I am going to do my research!

@MrsCB: That is comforting to hear that you think I could ovulating because of my regular periods, especially since I assumed that I wasn't. I will ask my doctor about the CD21 bloodwork next week. Thanks!

@antsmom: Hmm, CM is such an iffy sign to me. I think it's pretty unusual to have consistent periods but not ovulate. You could try next cycle with OPKs, or you could ask your doctor for CD21 bloodwork to confirm ovulation. I would guess without proof of non-ovulation your doctor will be hesitant to prescribe anything.

@antsmom: Definitely look into it! I can't do it because I don't have cycles, but I know lots of women who have and had great success with it. Make sure to check out the charting boards here: http://boards.hellobee.com/board/charting I bet you could find a lot of information! Good luck!

@MrsCB: I don't think I am ovulating because I am getting absolutely no CM whatsoever. Prior to having my son, I would get a lot of EWCM, in which I assumed I was ovulating.

@KT326: I am not charting. I think that is something that I definitely have to look into though. I don't really know much about it because I relied on my changes in CM to get pregnant with my son.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Oh and are you charting? If you are having regular periods that could also help tell you if you are ovulating or not.

@antsmom: It did not, but I do have infertility and had to do IUI/injectibles. I would just talk to your Dr. and tell him your concerns. There are blood tests he can do to see if you are ovulating or not. Hopefully you are and you don't have to worry about it!

Yes, I'm overweight and I've been on clomid. But if you're getting regular periods, why do you think you're not ovulating?

@MamaMoose: I have been getting a period every 27-28 days since December, so I have had 3 periods. I have never breastfed.

@KT326: Did Clomid work for you, if you don't mind me asking? I am not breastfeeding.

My DH and I really want my son to have a sibling close in age. My DH is not concerned at all, and says my body just needs time to get back to normal. It's just really frustrating not knowing if I am even ovulating yet.

I was considered overweight when I tried Clomid. I would think the Dr would want to run some tests to make sure you aren't ovulating first. Are you breastfeeding? That can definitely affect ovulation.

How many periods have you had since he was born? Are you breastfeeding? I think that 5 months post partum is probably a little early to expect your body to be ovulating regularly.

I had my son in October 2012. Prior to getting pregnant with him, I had regular 28 day cycles and still do. I always tracked ovulation (I know not 100% accurate) from when I would get EwCM. I have not had any CM since he has been born. I do not think I am ovulating. Next week I have an appointment with my OB for a pap smear, and I was wondering if he would possible put me on clomid if I am in fact not ovulating. I am overweight, and still have baby weight to loose. However, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and knows if an overweight woman can get clomid, and if my weight would make it less effective.
