oh man! So tonight is my first round of Clomid. This is just a "test" to see if I handle everything well and to test hormones before proceeding to ivf in Jan/Feb. I'm nervous! I'm not used to taking anything at all since I went off birth control pills 10ish years ago because they affected my emotions too much. Good thing it is only for 4 days.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: that's hilarious. I think we should start a thread "Crazy thing your fertility drugs made you do."

@Sarac: I'm very glad it worked so well for you! I said that about the monitoring b/c I learned many people have lining issues on Clomid, but that's clearly not the case for everyone. With only a progesterone test, it would have appeared that everything was fine for me, even though that wasn't the case.

@Sunshine1810: fingers crossed a third time is a charm for you!

@Sunshine1810: no offense taken! I was counseled on the common side effects like irritability, but clomid made me a weepy mess. We were in the Super Bowl on my second round & I cried every time our fight song came on... And I really don't care about football that much!!

@Mrs. Train: I know it's SO hard! It really makes me think about how much treatment I'll be able to go through.

@raintreebee: Thank you for telling me that! After my clomid experience I have been worried that the IVF meds would make me even more emotional and I didn't know if I could handle that. I hope there's not a next month but if I have another bad month I'll push for femara.

@Happygal: haha yeah I've started crying during commercials!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I don't want this to come out wrong. I'm not glad clomid made you cry, but it's reassuring to know it's not just me. I have two friends that have no issues with clomid and I was starting to feel crazy.

@FaithFertility: yay!!! Congratulations!!! Thanks for your well wishes! Maybe 3rd time will be my lucky cycle! I have had the night sweats too... No fun!!

Thank you so much to everyone for sharing your experiences! It really helps!!

I'm glad your lining is in good shape and you're being well monitored. I was surprised to learn some doctors don't require monitoring on such a serious drug.

Clomid made me crazy! Soooo emotional. The ivf injectables were a cinch compared to clomid since they don't work by controlling your brain like clomid does. I would push for femera next month if I were you (but hopefully there isn't a next month!).

I was never able to get rid of symptoms while on Clomid. It's why I was a fertility treatment drop out. I just couldn't handle all the crazy emotional issues I was having. I felt like Jekyll and Hyde.

Here's my feeling about Clomid--blech. I actually didn't have too many physical side effects (did get a little emotional), but it made my uterine lining be too thin after just one round.

I have some other side effects too, but I feel like those are a little easier for me to deal with. I just hate crying, and it's harder to keep it together and go to work, etc. I am glad to hear the clomid worked for you!

I got pregnant on my forth round of clomid. Each cycle had god awful side effects - and different each time. One month depression, one month headaches. I have a twin mom friend who said that being on clomid was worse than being pregnant, and that was my experience too.

We talked about it at my last appointment. I mentioned how I felt on Clomid but he said he would prefer I continue with it because there is more research done with the effectiveness of the Clomid with IUI vs. Femara + IUI. If I have a really hard time with this cycle, I am going to tell him that I want my last IUI done with Femara.

I don't have any Clomid experience, but I think you should let your RE know that you don't want to take it! It doesn't help you out any if you're unhappy and uncomfortable. There are definitely alternatives. Maybe ask about Femera?

I am heading into a third Clomid + IUI cycle and I am not looking forward to it! My RE just called in my prescription and I feel this sense of dread that I have to take it again. Having this past month off was so nice!

For some reason, Clomid makes me really sad and weepy. I cry over everything and I hate that! I know there's probably nothing that I can do, but does anyone have anything that helped them feel better during Clomid cycles?
