@sarac: @Rosie Girl: @Mrs.K: Thanks ladies for the advice. Just an update that I did not have any cysts at my baseline ultrasound so am going forward with IUI #3. Must have been delayed by the high progesterone as Mrs.K said.

@Mrs.K: Good luck on your IVF cycle. Hope you are feeling okay thus far. I just started injectables for my IUI and am feeling extremely exhausted. Come join us on the infertility support thread if you'd like.

Definitely talk to your doctor. You might not have cysts at all. When you take Clomid it sometimes causes your progesterone levels to be higher than they normally would because of the increase in the number of follicles you produce. More progesterone in your system can make your luteal phase longer. When I was on Clomid my progesterone levels were triple, sometimes quadruple what they were on unmedicated cycles and I often didn't get my period until 17-18DPO.

That being said, I did have cysts develop on two out of the three rounds of Clomid that I've taken. I did not know that they were there until going in for the baseline ultrasound for a subsequent cycle. Based on their size/appearance, my doctor just wanted me to give treatment a break for one cycle for them to heal. He did not recommend no exercise or alcohol, but again that was base on my situation. I would think it would depend on the size. I'm doing IVF now and I haven't been allowed to exercise since the beginning because of how swollen your ovaries get. Good luck, I hope you are cyst free!

I have PCOS, and also would get random big cysts that had to be monitored. Clomid can increase cysts. Your dr is probably monitoring them in the beginning and before IUI. When I was taking Clomid I had US 2x per month. Just becuase you didn't get your period doesn't mean you have a cyst though. Even with Clomid I would sometimes miss a period and would have to take progesterone to get it started. Your body just might not be making the hormones it needs to be.

Even if you do have a cyst, you can carry on like normal! Wine if fine, and exercise shouldn't be an issue either. Cysts can go away on their own, and most do. If it bursts, you will know! And that isn't bad either, it means it went away on its own by bursting!

My dr monitors my cysts by US. You can see them on there. You will have follicles, but every once in awhile one will get really big and become a cyst.

I hope this makes sense! Please ask if not :)

I've had ovarian cysts (though I didn't get them on clomid) and they're hideously painful. You'd probably know if you had one.

Hi Ladies, I am currently 16 days past my IUI and have no AF in sight. Unfortunately, I have plenty of BFNs. I have read that cysts from overstimulation (I took 150 mg of Clomid) might delay your period. Does anyone have any experience with cysts? How are they diagnosed? How are they treated? When do they go away? Can I exercise with them (truth be told, I really want to know if I can drink wine with them)? I know I have to ask my doctor all of these questions, but with the holiday coming up, I am not sure if I will get in beforehand.
