+1 for weak ovulation. Did clomid for 4 cycles with no success. Had the HSG done as well (about a month and a half ago), as well as some standard intrauterine ultrasounds.

We also did a work-up to check my thyroid, hormones, etc. I do have low-ish progesterone. I also showed elevated levels for CA-125 which indicates Endometriosis. :bummed:

@periwinklebee: It means the egg is dead or shortly dies as soon as it's released. It has taken too long, and is dead before it can become fertilized.

@GardenFloral: I asked the nurse was I going to be yelling, and she said no. It didn't hurt a bit, and was like2 min. My anatomy is different we learned as well. As in my right Fallopian tube is actually hooked crooked behind the ovary, instead of how it "normally" looks in pictures. It took the dye longer to come out because of it, but she said it should not be a problem. She told us to start having sex a day later. I had it done on cd 12. I got pregnant 72 hours later.

@dc yoga bee: What was your experience with the HSG test? My OB said it can be mild cramping but of course when you google (I should know better!) I read horror stories of how much it hurt.

I did clomid successfully to conceive my second baby. I was already ovulating but we used it, in combination with a trigger injection to "super ovulate"-- produce more eggs. I have DOR and the eggs I do have are poor quality. So the more eggs I ovulated, the higher chance there was for one of the eggs to be OK. That is what ended up happening. It took a few tries and we even did one cycle of IUI but the cycle we got pregnant on was just clomid, trigger and sex.

@dc yoga bee: Quick question - what exactly is weak ovulation? I've looked through past threads/googled, and this is something I still don't really understand. Does it mean the egg is release before it's mature, so it won't fertilize, or just that ovulation produces fewer hormonal shifts? Sorry to thread jack, I've been wondering about this for awhile...

@GardenFloral: No insight on the Clomid, but wanted to wish you :goodluck:

This was the treatment plan outlined for me when trying for my first. My RE said that I had weak ovulation, as I didn't ovulate until day 17 of a 28 day cycle. She also advised that I had low progesterone. Clomid was her first line of defense to trigger a stronger ovulation. I had the HSG done as the last step in testing, and I ended up getting a positive pregnancy test the night before I was to pick up my prescription. She said the HSG flushes your system, and acts as a fertility booster for some people.

This time around, we've been trying since March, however now I'm not ovulating until day 21 of a 28 day cycle. I had day three testing done this month, and everything came back normal. My nurse practitioner and RE are recommending we go straight to clomid. Same reasoning as above. I do ovulate, although they suspect it's weak.

Also, my RE defines trying to conceive as having unprotected sex. It does NOT include using opk, tracking your cycles, temping, or any of the like. If you are not using a barrier method, the time counts.

@GardenFloral: I'm here with you on regular cycles and as far as I know I'm ovulating (according to the opk's). DH will be getting a SA and not sure what the nest steps will be.. I have an appointment on Thursday. Assuming all comes back normal I'm in the same boat as you!

Curious if anyone has experience with Clomid when you already ovulate on your own? So far my blood work and DH's SA has come back normal. My OB has said our next step is an HSG test followed by Clomid.

We're a couple months short of actively TTC for a whole year, but have been off BC for over 2.5 and not preventing prior to starting TTC.....so we're headed down the path of unexplained infertility which is super frustrating because while it's good to know nothing is "wrong" it's almost harder than having an answer or explanation.
