I am not sure I am qualified to give you advice but I can tell you my experiences. It sounds like a tough choice since you are having significant side effects with Clomid.

I had taken 3 cycles of 50 mg Clomid from my OB/GYN before my first visit with the RE. At my first visit with the RE he gave me the choice of doing 100 mg Clomid for 2-3 more cycles or switching to Femara. I decided to stick with Clomid and see it through to the end but I only had moderate side effects while taking it. Just some hot flashes on Clomid, some dizziness, etc. On higher doses of Clomid with my RE, I did ovulate but didn't get PG.

I had to switch to Femara but after 2 cycles, we decided I wasn't responding well enough to it. So I had to switch to injectible medications. Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

@ladybee: i was in a blind study for my iui but I am 95% sure I was on femara, not clomid, because I hardly had any side effects. Clomid was awful.

@swedishfish: he said it has no side effects and is just as effective but I worry it won't work. I don't have any logical reason to worry but I do.

Clomid gave me major leg aches after I finished taking it as well as hot flashes. It hurt to walk. I haven't been on Femara. If you stay on Clomid, the research I did said you're only supposed to take Clomid for a certain number of cycles in your lifetime. Did you ask your doctor why she thought Femara might work better? Does it have fewer side effects?

I am on my second cycle of Clomid. It gave me a normal (31) cycle last cycle and this time I ovulated on CD 14. I get really crampy, bloated, gassy, and hot so my RE suggested switching me to Femara. Now that Clomid work (and so well this cycle) I'm nervous to switch but the cramping is horrible until 3-4dpo. What would you do? I know very little about either. I'm looking for advice, personal experiences and someone else's knowledge.

Thanks :)
