I took Clomid for my first and had the prescription for it for my second, but hadn't started it. My OB said I had to wean before starting Clomid. I weaned LO1 completely at 18 months and got a BFP the week after I weaned her.

@MrsBrewer: I took clomid for my first, and it took me 3 years of NTNP to conceive again. Some people get lucky, some don't. My midwife wouldn't prescribe me clomid while I was nursing, she said it wasn't usually effective if you're already less fertile from nursing anyway.

@MrsBrewer: I know, I'm sad that we are going to have to wean, but I'm also really glad that we are going to make it to a year.

I don't need to go on Clomid but I will need fertility meds to conceive again. I'll have to wean DD first.

@MrsBrewer: No, they will not give it to you while nursing, I asked haha. Also, if you only got that one "period" at six weeks, I really doubt it was a period, even if your pp bleeding had stopped for a little bit.
I also used clomid to get pregnant with both of my babies, and plan on taking it again. My DD is 11 months, and I'm weaning at 12 months so we can get on ttc soon. I have really bad endometriosis, so my doctor said she would give me clomid after three cycles of trying once we have weaned.

@kiddosc: that I'm not sure. It may be both. I never ovulated on my own before getting pregnant with #1, so I just figured this wasn't different, but nursing I'm sure also plays a role in it as well.

That's a tough one... are you not ovulating now because you're nursing, or because your body never has done it well on it's own. I would probably hold off for a little longer if you want to keep nursing. Some studies have shown that Clomid can reduce milk supply. The package insert says to avoid nursing for 6 hours after taking a dose also.

@Tidybee: I would love that!! We have been NTNP since she's been born! But nothing yet, although I am still nursing her 5-6 times a day still.

I don't have an answer to your question but I wanted to chime in that I needed Clomid to get pregnant with DD1 after a year of TTC, and then for DD2, I got pregnant every single month that we didn't avoid. Hopefully it'll be as easy for you (minus the losses that I had!)

I have a 7 month old, and DH and I are thinking about #2 soon!

To get pregnant with #1 though I needed help from Clomid to ovulate. It worked the first round though! But the question is, I'm still nursing right now, and plan to for as long as possible. Would an OB even prescribe me Clomid while nursing?

I've had 1 PP period (I think) at 6 weeks, but nothing more after that. I'm pretty sure it was my period because my PP bleeding stopped at 3 weeks.

Just wondering if anyone else was in a similar situation?
