Our public school is closed for two weeks for our older. I'm off work (vacation) for the first week of our older child's break. The second week the older will go to daycare (pay daily rates for her). I picked a daycare that wouldn't "dictate" my vacation time for me. My husband and I usually each take a day or 2 and then my mom and niece cover the other days. Usually DH takes the week off or works from home that week because my company forces non-billable employees to take off the week between Christmas and New Years, so I am off the next week. (We've asked our nanny if she can switch, but she really can't because of her childcare situation.) I just make sure and budget it in when I am planning vacations for the year. </p> <p>My boss's kid's preschool closes from 12/18 to 1/6.
