We use Freetimes and Elementals. The elementals take longer to dry but I usually just hang them dry when they come out of the dryer and they are good to go the next morning.

We use mostly freetimes and I love them. I also have a couple funky fluff and a few wahm diapers and can't say that I really dislike any of them. I usually wash diapers in the evenings and hang to dry and they are all totally dry by morning, including the freetimes. K is 6 months old, is ebf and is just starting solids now so I can't really say yet how the flaps are for solids poops. I've had no issues with stink though and have used them full time for 5.5 months now on her.

More of a pocket but they come just as a pocket, you choose your inserts. They work great as an AI2. I use a trifold with them but also leave some stuffed for DH.

I have a variety of diapers. Mostly pockets which is easier for SO and others to use. I am not in love with BG. I have 5. My favorite is Funky Fluff. It's a convertible diaper. AIO AI2 and pocket. Good luck

@danda: I've never heard of Moraki! They look very similar to the blueberry ones that I like, and are about the same price. Ive never tried the flip inserts, but I liked the cover with my prefolds. I think Ill keep the pockets for now. Maybe Ill become a fan when he's a little bigger who knows!

@brownie: @avivoca: Maybe I need to check out g diapers! I saw them early in my obsessive research stage but discounted them for some reason or another...

@blackbird: I know! Sometimes I am like...snap out of it you weirdo! You have so much more to think about! And I might buy a free time. Ive had one in my cart on amazon and deleted it once or twice.

@Mrs. Lion: Where did you get the generic bamboo inserts?
I think I checked out rumparooz pockets from your post on them.

@cookiemomster: Aside from dry time, would you say the elementals and freetimes have similar absorbency?

@Skadi: I may end up sticking with the elementals! How long have you been using them? Does the absorbency hold up with a bigger baby or do you have to tuck something else in? It seems like my 2 mo old pees so much already! I was thinking if half my stash is elementals and half is cheap prefolds it might even out...

BumGenius elemental user here! We chose them for some of the reasons you mentioned.

The microfiber seems hot and bulky to me, it's a petroleum product so it's not great for the environment, and there seem to be more stink issues with microfiber. Oh, and the Freetimes flaps are annoying when you're trying to dump poo in the toilet.

BG Elementals are so trim and easy to deal with. You can actually dry the diapers on hot with a dry fluffy towel to get a pretty reasonable drying time--you just shouldn't use the diapers until they are completely cool (it isn't the hot dryer that damages them, it's stretching out the elastic while the elastic is still warm). We haven't had any elastic issues.

The major con of BGEs are the price. I would suggest joining the FaceBook Bumgenius Buy, Sell, Trade group and buying some gently used solid colors for a reasonable price. :)

We have mostly bumgenius free times, and they have been awesome the last five months or so that we've been using them. We also have a few elementals which take too long to dry and are harder to spray than the free times, and fuzzibunz which we hate and don't use- she leaked through anytime we used them.

When she was little we used a friends nb/small gdiapers, and those are my favorite- easy, trim, for great- but are hella expensive which is why we went the pocket route.

I really love rumparooz pockets. stuffing is quick, and the insert agitated out in the wash so you don't have to pull it out. I like the pockets because I can dry the outside on a rack and the inserts in the dryer...it prevents wear and tear on the pul and elastic. I like the rumparooz specifically because the are a bit more trim fitting, the inside material is soft and releases poop pretty easily, and they have a double gusset which keeps all the poop in. I don't believe I have ever had poop leak.

I have tried bum genius, grovia, and prefolds with covers, and these are my favorites.

My second favorite is flip covers with generic bamboo inserts. I don't like the flip inserts because they fit best at the largest size and I don't like that the insert doesn't stay in well when they are pre-stuffed. you have to fold it to fit and it seems like a pain to me. I like that the flip covers have a little pouch at the front and back to hold the insert in place.

I hate touching new microfiber, but as you wash them more, it gets better. I don't know if it's the dryness of my skin right now or what, but I hate it.

Now, for diapers. My favorite diapers at that age were gDiapers. They fit really well and I like that we are still in the medium size at 16 months. She will likely be wearing this size until she potty trains. As she has gotten older, she has started wetting through them because she is such a heavy wetter, but we still use them.

I started liking pockets once she got bigger. I like that you can customize them more than AIO. I throw everything in the dryer and it dries quickly.

For the all in twos we didn't use the grovia inserts much. We also put them in the dryer so we didn't have too many issues BUT we loved using gDiapers inserts with the grovia shells. They don't snap in but they were trimmer and cheaper. Flip diapers were okay too (liked them better as training pants).

Oh and a comment on pockets - we mostly use Bumgenius 4.0 (we go with fitted diaper plus cover at night). I love that they are quick and easy to put on at diaper change time and that the inserts and covers can be washed together but dried separately (I line dry covers but use the dryer on high for inserts.). For my toddler who tries to roll over and run away during diaper changes, faster is better! Most of the time my husband is willing to stuff the diapers while he watches TV (he doesn't complain about it at all and is happy it's a chore that lets him sit in front of the TV, lol) so for me it eliminates one of the main issues that many people have which is the extra time it takes to stuff diapers.

Bear with me, this is probably going to be a wordy and boring post! I just want to get some of my thoughts out about cloth diapering so far and see if anyone has advice about my next steps.

So my baby boy is 8 weeks old (agh how fast!) and we've been cloth diapering for about 6-7 weeks. It's going well for the most part considering the learning curve and general adjustment of first time parenting in general.

One major issue is that I did WAY too much research before, and decided I needed to try out tons of different types and figure out "what works best for us". The problem with that has been that it's almost more of a process each time I change him because I have to decide what diaper to use and why, and it just adds more thinking to something that you do SO very often at this stage. And second, I can tell that different types are probably going to work in different stages as he grows and his shape changes, so a clear favorite diaper isn't coming out.

At this point, most of his newborn diapers don't fit any longer (wahh!)
-We've tried prefolds and fitters, which seemed to work well for this age, but they are more work than I prefer. They get so soaked with pee that as a bigger baby, that's a turn off. Plus he's already outgrown the second size pre fold I had which were supposed to go up to a much higher weight (when fastened with snappi). I still use them for back ups trifolded into covers, now that he doesn't poop every single diaper, and should be able to for a while.
-Pockets seem to be the most popular, but there is something about them that I just don't like. I don't mind the fit and they work great, but I despise touching the microfiber inserts and stuffing them makes my skin crawl! I know you can stuff them with other materials, but I have 4 different brands of pockets and they all come with microfiber, so it seems pretty standard, and if I buy more to fill out my stash, Ill have to buy a whole separate set of inserts?? My favorite part about pockets is how fast they dry and I think I could get my husband to use them if they are all ready.

-All in ones are great, but they seem to take foooooreeever to dry and are expensive if I want to buy more. I bought a grovia one, and the side snaps are weird to me, and a bum genius elemental, which I like. My favorite newborn diaper was the blueberry newborn simplex, so I ordered the bigger one size version to see if I like that as much (which is $$$). Any other all in one I should try? Does anyone love the bum genius freetimes? I so far prefer natural fibers, because the fleece seems very hot and Ive heard that the synthetics can cause problems with stink after a while.

-I thought all in twos were going to be my go to diaper but so far they are a little weird to me! I just have grovia ones with two different types of inserts, and a best bottoms one. They both do the job, but the inserts also take forever to dry, and the shells tend to get dirty. I also don't like how the bulk is all between the legs in a lumpy way.

So I guess my questions are mainly for all in one users, and if anyone has suggestions for all in twos I might prefer. Why do you love your particular all in one and do you honestly think its worth the $$? I just ordered more pockets too, I have NO idea why! Pocket lovers, do you think over time I'd get more used to them and understand why everyone likes them best? Should I just pick a damn diaper and stick with it and stop overthinking everything?
