Update! I just tried one of our AIO diapers on my son and somehow it fits again? I think his shape has changed as he is growing taller. To be determined if it will contain his pee! Haha. Anyways, I want to try to at least part time CD again because I feel like I change his diaper way too much and am always buying diapers!

We CD for a year. The smell was rough so I switched detergents and LO had a horrifying bleeding rash reaction to it. I was newly pregnant so scraping poop into the toilet was a gag fest and we had just gotten back from vacation where I was using disposables for a week. Plus we didn't have enough diapers to do cloth for both kids anyway so we quit. I feel bad about but whatever. I do my best to purchase the most eco friendly diapers and wipes we can reasonably afford and dont worry about the rest.

We are CD drop outs. Even from the beginning, we used disposables overnight, although she was in newborn sized CDs during the day. We used those for about 3 months, then switched to bigger ones in a different brand and she started getting rashes like crazy. We'd put her in disposables for a day and the rash would clear up, then try the cloth again, and it would come back. I tried stripping them but it didn't seem to help. The final thing that killed our CD journey was that our daycare provides disposable diapers with our tuition, so it would be extra work and not as much savings to keep LO in her (rashy) cloth diapers. I sold our stash and never looked back.

@junebugsmama: If I stayed at home, I would totally try EC! Why not give it a whirl?

I talked to someone getting his PhD from a top business school and he was studying environmental issues. He said that water quality and supply is much more of an issue than diapers in landfills. So there's that, if it helps you to feel any better. :happy:

Also California drought was making me feel guilty about washing. But I also feel guilty about my diapers going into landfill. Maybe I should try elimination communication. Sort of jk.

@PurplePeony: I kinda wish I had done diaper service in the first place! I bought some bigger prefolds and they were just longer but same width! So they just ended up being very bulky when folded and I still couldn't try fastening them. Thought about buying a better brand but I've bought a bunch of stuff that didn't work. I think prefolds look funnier, at least when they are trifolded, when they are really mobile cause they hang there.

@MenagerieMama: @sorrycharlie:
he's now 28 lbs. it's the waist. It cuts in. I haven't watched a fit video but I read something about the thighs and realized i was doing it a little wrong. But the waist part I can't change! Same issue with pants, we have to size waaaayyyy up. And in disposable diapers he's now size 6, even though the weight suggestion is 35lbs and up, which is the same as the suggested upper weight limit on my blueberry diapers.

We dropped out. We were using a diaper service and there came a point where one size of prefolds seemed too small but the next size up was enormous. DH refused to wash diapers in our home washer, so AIOs or whatever were out. Cloth just wasn't cutting it anymore so we switched to disposables and never looked back.

@junebugsmama: how big is your LO? We have all in ones (4.0s) and my LO was 95th%ile until she started walking (12 mo) and hers still fit! I definitely had to spend a little while recently figuring out the best snap arrangement though.

After writing this I feel like I should try again. Maybe if I buy a few more elementals, we have one and it still fits.

I think I am finally willing to admit that I am done with my cloth diapers at 10m.. I feel like the odds were stacked against me having the worlds biggest baby! We used them from when his circ was healed around 2 weeks to 6m almost all the time, and then he outgrew his all in ones! Almost 10-15lbs ahead of what the upper weight requirement said. I invested way too much money to try to get something new at this point. I have some flats and prefolds that work, but I have slowly used them less and less, and they aren't convenient enough to compel me to continue. And being this part time means I barely have enough to do laundry once a week and that's too long in my opinion. I did sell a few styles I didn't like at a garage sale for a ridiculously low price, but the rest I am saving for baby number 2 someday!

I feel kinda bad! Anyone else a cloth diaper drop out?
