@menageriemama: here is another option that is raved about in cloth diaper facebook groups I'm part of. I got some recently and they are so absorbent for household spills (no LO yet, due in Jan!)

@DesertDreams88: really?? We have been getting a ton of compression leaks on our MF inserts. Maybe they're just through their lifespan? LO just turned one. That makes me feel better. I want to replace them with bamboo but need to find somewhere I can get 20+ without breaking the bank.

For stripping and bleaching..... but changing the type of inserts might help a lot too.

@youboots: I had a stink issue with my BG 4.0's, I contacted Cotton Babies and they recommended a 1/4 cup of bleach added to the hot wash cycle (with the detergent). I did a couple of extra rinse cycles and it worked great! They said they actually recommend it about once a month to prevent stink/leak/detergent build-up issues.

I had 2 heavy wetters and needed to switch to using the regular (longer) BG insert with a hemp insert as they got older for better absorbency.

The Facebook group Fluff Love and CD science has tons of suggestions for things like this, I suggest joining and posting there.

I've heard that cotton, bamboo, and hemp inserts are great for heavy wetters, but a MF insert should be layered on top of it, because especially hemp can absorb slowly. MF inserts lose their absorbency after about a year of use and they can get what's called compression leaks, which is when the diaper or clothes are too tight, they will not be able to hold all the liquid.

@youboots: I used a little bleach every 3-4 months to get them extra clean.

A dawn strip isn't recommended, per fluff love university. http://www.fluffloveuniversity.com/troubleshooting/solving-stinky-diaper-problems/how-to-strip-your-cloth-diapers/

I had problems with leaking too... so I gave up.

We used the infant and regular insert (the ones that come with the diaper) and we had no issues with leaking during the day. I added a Hemp Babies doubler underneath the inserts for overnight use.

Soooo T is almost 7 mo and lately we have problems with her inserts getting saturated and leaking in a short period of time. About six weeks ago I changed their rise on her BG 4.0s. Per @littlejoy I'm stripping them with dawn dish soap and adding a second inserts. Have you had more success with the infant inserts or diaper doublers (do you stuff there or lay on top)? Any other words of wisdom?
