planet wise! loved the trash liner. simple and easy to wash.

we had a wet/dry bag as well, but ended up just using disposables for when we were out. we use the wet/dry bag for the pool now, though and it's great!

We have two medium planet wise wet bags for our diaper bags. I think they're medium. They hold like 6 diapers. I have one small one, too--which, frankly, i could do without. I could use one that just holds two, honestly, now that E's a toddler! But whatever.

In the nursery, we have an Ubbi diaper pail (which SUCKS because full size cloth diapers don't fit in the damn thing easily so we use it for poop wipes and liners now) and then we have a big metal trash can with a foot operated lid that we keep the cloth bag in. It's just the cloth bag that came with the Ubbi pail, nothing fancy.

I think a hanging wet bag would be great, though, and would have worked fine for us. We just kind of kept working with what we have and it's not the best solution, but it's ok. We use Bac Out, too. Our nursery never stinks like poop

Before solids I just had a large hanging wet bag we put everything in at home and a small wet bag for my diaper bag. After solids we have the large wetbah acting as a pail liner on an open trash can in the bathroom. We spray well and put dirty dipes in there. Wet dipes go into another open trash can next to changing table. I just have a trash bag in there that we change once a week or so to keep it clean bc I'm too lazy to clean a trash can regularly.

@ballerinabee: no worries, this is all interesting/relevant to my question. I didn't know all the pail options!!

I'm curious how a no-lid trash can wtih a liner could not stink.... it's like they're just sitting there in the open!

@LaughLines: I am SO sorry I hijacked your thread. I'll start a new one for the wash / pail routine discussion.

Sounds like PlanetWise wet bags / pail liners are a favorite. I know other CD moms have mentioned them on several threads. I may have to invest in some too!

@sorrycharlie: do you mind coming over to a new thread to talk washing?

@ballerinabee: I never have stink - I credit my wash routine! I do a small or medium light wash on cold, line 1 gain. Then a heavy wash on medium or large after adding laundry to bulk up to 2/3-3/4 full, line 3 gain and half cup borax (I have hard water), extra spin, NO extra rinses.

@sorrycharlie: how do you not have ammonia stink with a no-lid pail? I had mine with no lid in the bathroom for a day or two and the bathroom smelled horribly of urine. I can't imagine that even rinsed poopy diapers wouldn't make that worse too...

@ballerinabee: I had a front loader, so that wouldn't have worked. Basically, what I did was to put on rubber gloves and take the diapers out, then dump the water in the toilet.

The diapers were basically pretty cleaned off by the time they went into the wet pail. I was fanatical about rinsing, which used a lot of water.

@ballerinabee: @looch: I've read that wet pails aren't recommended anymore - bacteria growth, and drowning hazard once LOs are mobile.

FWIW we have had zero stink with the no-lid pail - diaper genie smells 10x worse.

@looch: I have a dumb question - how does the wet pail system work for the wash? Do you carry the wet pail to your washer and dump it in? I think that would help with my barnyard stink problem, but I'm not sure logistically how to get them from the wet pail to the washing machine. <sorry, so dumb>

At home I never used a wetbag, I used a wet pail system ( I think that's what it is called). Basically, I had a covered trash can in the bathroom, filled with water. After I scraped and rinsed, I would put the diaper in the pail until wash day.

I have a couple of different brands (Kanga Care, Blueberry), but my daycare provider complains that they all become stinky once they have a wet diaper in them. So, she only puts one wet diaper per wet bag, which means I have to wash them almost nightly or send plastic grocery bags.

Does anyone else have that problem / a work around?

I have two PlanetWise can liners in a simple diaper pail (it's the cheapest one you can get from BRU) and a Medium wet/dry PlanetWise bag for daycare/when we're out.

I prefer a garbage can with a pail liner for the nursery. I like the Planet Wise medium bags for daycare and when we use cloth away from home. I have 4 (liners and wetbags) but I had two in diapers for almost a year...I only use 2 right now.

Wet bags!! How many do you have? Sizes? Brands? I'm trying to register for some but i'm not sure exactly how the changing setup will work (do i need one/multiple in the nursery right next to the changing area). I also know i'll need one for my diaper bag for when we're out and about.

Any tips?
