They just were not very robust and fell to pieces in the washer. The rest of it all looked fine after 2 years of use and mostly line-drying. About 1/3 of my cover stash was bought second hand, and for the most part, everything has held up really well and I'm sure we can get great use out if them the second time around. I think the turning point is around 2 years- that's when things start to actually fall apart and need mending or replacing. I'm 7 months into my second kiddo with a decent size stash and I *think* the majority will survive another year of use but if we have a third then everything will need to be replaced. I use fitteds and admittedly do not line dry them. I do line-dry the covers and wet bags, though.
