For the in-between not EBF not totally solid phase I think you need either liners or a diaper sprayer. In our case, because we didn't do purees, the intermediary phase was still watery like EBF poop but with little pieces of food, so a sprayer was easy enough.

@duckduckkristen: When I did a cloth-diapering trial, it included some Imse Vimse Flushable Liners, and I liked that you can wash them with your diapers for 2-3 washes. (I personally wouldn't flush them though since they do seem so durable!) I used them a couple of times but didn't bother to continue because of LO's EBF poop, but now I want to try them again! Too bad I have to finish off my Bummis ones first! I'm wondering if I should just rinse them off in the mean time to try to get more use outta them....but then I'd have to touch them! Hahahaha.

the smell is def worse but i actually perfer solid poo compared to his poo before he was on solids. before it was peauntbuttery now its hard so its so much easier to clean. we also use liners, omg they are a lifesaver!
wow i totally cannot believe i wrote a paragraph on my kids poop.

@duckduckkristen: Did you re-use the liners if they weren't soiled?

I used flushable liners until LOs turds got firm enough to just dump in the toilet.

How did you react, and what steps did you take to clean it?

I had been dreading starting solids for this very reason! We started consistently feeding solids a week ago and a week later, we experienced our first icky peanut-butter-y poop!! It was sticky, icky, and smelled pretty bad.....oh, how I miss EBF poop!!! Gone are those days of just throwing the diapers in the pail without a care! >_<

I admit, I kinda panicked and became very squeamish. I even used a disposable wipe because I didn't know what to do with that mound of poop that was stuck on his butt! He pooped twice that day and I haven't encountered another poop since, but let me tell you, I'm dreading it already!!! I'm sure I'll get use to it over time....Hahahaha...but for now, EWWWW!!
