@joyjoy: Oh that is right, pocket diapers! I think I will not like stuffing the pockets every time, either, but I guess I should give them all a try and see what works best!

What you got (the 4.0) is actually a pocket diaper, not an AI2, so the shell can't be reused. Essentially, it would work like a AIO - one use and straight into the dirty bag/pail. The difference is that you can adjust the absorbency with a pocket diaper, whereas most AIOs, you can't.

If you can stand to have a mismatched stash for a bit, I would recommend trying out different types or doing a cloth trial like from Jillian's Drawers. That way you can figure out what style works best for LO and you. For us I found that I hated pockets (didn't like unstuffing and restuffing), hubs and I liked A12 or prefolds, and my mom got confused by anything that wasn't an AIO. Then it turned out that DD had a hard time with PUL. :P Now we're almost exclusively in hybrid fitteds, and I'm destashing my BGE's and Freetimes.

I would definitely keep them just to try. You may love them. We prefer our AIOs.

@scg00387: Cool - 25 or 26 seems to be the number I see a lot. When I pre-washed mine I did notice they took forever to dry on the rack!

@tlcbaby: I bought lots of brands and types and have slowly started whittling away at what doesn't work for us (LO is 6 months and 18 lbs, if they're still fitting funky now they're getting sold!).

We don't use cloth at night, but I think I have...probably 25 diapers? 2 of them are Flip covers though, which I can reuse before washing again. I wash about every other day - our washer seems happier if the load isn't huge. I use the AIOs less (I think I have a BG Elemental and 2 freetimes, sold a grovia AIO that never fit) because they take longer to dry, especially the BGE, and they end up hanging out on my drying rack.

@scg00387: Yeah I thought about that, too. Maybe I would hang on to them and find some situation (travel, night time, etc) where I preferred them. I think it is mostly my OCD that wants them all to be exactly the same. :)

If you don't mind my asking, how many do you have? We are still building out stash.

@tlcbaby: sorry, I have too many diapers as it is to add any more in I've been trying to thin the herd! But honestly, I'd keep at least one and see if you like it. I had a little of everything and am surprised by what I like best (Flip covers).

I just got some AI2s that I really like. We are using them with disposable liners for travel and then will use them with cloth back at home.

They dry faster and you can easily change absorbency. I have a few aios and was just thinking of selling them actually.

We were planning on doing all AIO's, but I accidentally bought a couple of AI2's not realizing it. I have already discarded the packaging, but I am trying to decide if I should try to trade them or Craigslist them and get some AIO's or keep them.

What are the benefits to AI2's?
