Essentially, it would work like a AIO - one use and straight into the dirty bag/pail. The difference is that you can adjust the absorbency with a pocket diaper, whereas most AIOs, you can't. </p> <p>If you can stand to have a mismatched stash for a bit, I would recommend trying out different types or doing a cloth trial like from Jillian's Drawers. That way you can figure out what style works best for LO and you. For us I found that I hated pockets (didn't like unstuffing and restuffing), hubs and I liked A12 or prefolds, and my mom got confused by anything that wasn't an AIO. I wash about every other day - our washer seems happier if the load isn't huge.
