We had good luck with a BG insert and a Ragababe insert on top and both stuffed into the pocket. A natural fiber insert will absorb faster (also holds more) than a microfiber insert so the combo was great for us. I have also heard people having good luck with a fitted/prefold and lanolized wool soakers. We tried them and they did work great! The wool soaker could even be loose and still no leaking, but I wasn't a fitted fan.

@swurlygurl: we use different diapers at night than during the day, for this same reason....i think its pretty common! Good luck! Middle of the night leaks are such a pain.

@MerryC: I might also need to look into getting some different inserts. I have homemade CDs and inserts from a SAHM in my area that sells them.

We use three layers - both bumgenius inserts and a hemp. Big bg insert on bottom with the folded part in the front, then hemp layed flat over it, then fold the bg newborn insert over the top of the two. So where the regular bg insert already has the fold, the newborn insert mimics that. So you end up with a lot of layers in the front of the diaper to catch. This solved my kids leaking....hope that helps, and makes sense!

@ohapostrophe: I was shoving it all the way up, because it sounded like it needed more up there to soak it up, but your explanation makes sense!

I did higher rise, tighter snapping around the waist and more stuffing (SUCH A BIG BUTT!), and had just a tiny amount of leaking. I'll try not shoving the stuffing all the way up tonight

Are you shoving the insert all the way in/up the front of the diaper? Because I was at first but then found out there is supposed to be some empty space there so that that part can lie completely flat against the tummy. Maybe 1.5-2"?

@Weagle: It has been on the lowest rise, and she's probably around 14 pounds now. It just barely covers her belly button

What setting is it on, and how much does she weigh? When we've had leaks, sizing down fixed it. LO didn't unsnap to the middle rise until almost 18 lbs.

Well, I increased the rise, but apparently didn't have enough padding in there because this diaper was SOAKED.

It's so bizarre, I haven't had a single problem before this tummy sleeping. :(

Higher rise AND extra stuffing tonight!

yup sounds like a fit issue. we were having issues with leaking and we needed to unsnap some buttons to make the diaper "longer"

For our cloth diapers (Bum Genius) they would leak if the fit was off - there needs to be pressure on the liner for it to soak through to the pad and not leak/puddle. We actually had to increase the rise for our 2 month old so that they were snug.

I have never ever had a leaking problem with my cloth diapers so far (20 weeks). Now that DD has started sleeping on her tummy though, she ALWAYS leaks out the front. Naps, night time, whenever... The pads aren't even soaking wet when I get her up, but she's soaked through the front of her outfit, the sleep sack and her sheet.

It's not a repelling issue, and I'm pretty sure adding more padding wouldn't help, because they aren't fully saturated as it is.

Any advice?
