@ktgee04: The liners never contributed to blowouts, bit if they're not tucked in well you can have lots of leakage problems. But they clogged our pipes, and I switched to fleece liners early on. I don't know that my short stint as a flushable liner user is that helpful.

This has been super helpful. I think I will go back to two inserts and see if that makes a difference. LO is only a year old (22ish pounds) so I hope they aren't worn out yet. I do think there seems to be a correlation between going down to one insert and the additional blowouts. Maybe it isn't as snug as it should be. Trial and error I suppose!

Has anyone had addtl blowouts due to using the flushable liners? My daycare LOVES using them but I'm wondering if that could be causing the leaking?

Is it possible your elastic is worn out? Towards the end of our 27 months of use of BG 4.0s that happened to us a handful of times. I just sent my stash off to get the elastic replaced in preparation for baby #2. Are any of your diapers used? I wouldn't expect the elastic to wear out after only one year! Do you use a lot of bleach (I use some and have heard that might have contributed to ours wearing out).

Are you getting blowouts using them?

Sounds like a fit thing like others have mentioned, would also play around with different combo's of inserts! Hope you can figure it out! I love our BG stash, LO is 9.5m and I hope that doesn't happen along the way as she gets older!

My bgs always held in even very liquidy poops. I do think it's likely fit. How big is lo? You may just need to try some different rise and waist combos on the snaps until you find what works better. You could also try some different ways of folding inserts in the pockets so there is more thickness at the point of usual leaking.

Two inserts is my minimum with them at one year though. One may not be fluffy enough to give you a good seal at the legs. I use the regular bg insert and a flip staydry for daytime. And the bg regular and newborn and a hemp at night. Is it possible that the diapers are already super saturated when he poops? That's the only time I get a leak, if they are soaked and heavy and we get compression leaks.

Do you have a local cloth store? Mine is awesome about helping troubleshoot. If not, you can call Cotton Babies directly and they maybe able to give you suggestions.

I would think about going back to 2 inserts. Is there a reason you went down to 1?

Also, over time, my BG inserts basically because useless. I had to invest in others.

I think the waist fitting is good b/c it doesn't ever come out the top, only the legs. I would hate to change CD brands b/c 1. buying a new stockpile would equal $$$ and 2. The Bum Genius have worked so well for us.

I will have to check with the daycare about whether the liner ever sticks out but she's pretty smart about stuff like that so I doubt it. I have recently switched to one insert (verse 2) so there shouldn't be too much padding but maybe not enough (too loose)? I am at a loss but am desperate for an answer! Thanks ladies!

Definitely sounds like a fit issue. The legs are in the smallest setting, but what about the waist? Is she making sure all of the diaper and liner are tucked inside the elastic?

I think sometimes some diapers don't fit certain kids well. Are they pockets with too much padding from inserts? If you're getting a good fit, it shouldn't matter what the consistency is of the BM, the diaper should hold it in.

I have a large stock of Bum Genius snap CD's that I have taken really good care of. The issue as of late is that my now one-year old has been having 1-2 blowouts a day at daycare. His BMs are usually very soft and they shoot out the leg holes. I have the CDs set to the smallest setting around the legs and they are still having issues. She uses flushable liners in them to help with removal. I really don't want my daycare to give up on doing the cloth diapers for us but it's getting exhausting for her. ANY advice?!? Do I need to talk to my doctor about ways to make his BMs more solid? Thank you in advance!!
