We do disposables on vacations. I don't mind diaper laundry, but I don't want to have to pack them. I'm a minimalist packer.

Hell to the no was my first reaction. I love getting to use disposables on vacation. I guess if I were going to a condo with laundry for a week I might consider it, though.

We used CD's while on vacation to the OBX. The first time we took DS we only went for a few days (4 days total) and used a combo of our regular CD's and our GroVia sposie inserts...basically used the CD's the second half so they didn't sit for 4 whole days since we were renting a hotel with no washer/dryer.

The second time we took DS we went for a week and rented a house (this is what we normally do when we go to the OBX). Since we had a washer/dryer we CD'd the entire time and it was NO ISSUE at all!! We stuck mostly with our AIO's from our stash just so we didn't have to take too much time away from vacation for stuffing and we only took enough diapers for about 1-1.5 days so we didn't take up too much space. I washed them every night while we were there but it wasn't any different from doing any other load of laundry.

I say if you have the washer and dryer there and don't mind an extra load of laundry here or there during your trip go for cloth!!

We did a five day/four night trip with our kid in cloth! We stayed with family three nights (hotel on the fourth) so we were able to do laundry twice. It worked perfectly. I think we brought 15 pocket and aio diapers and maybe 2 dozen cloth wipes.

We are going on a seven day/six night trip to a resort this summer, and we are planning on doing covers and disposable inserts.

We have traveled all the time with our cloth diapers. In fact I won't do it any other way. We do have the Grovia's but you could buy just the disposable inserts and put them in your shells. Then you can throw away when you want. We just put al the dirties in a wet bag and take them home and spray them out. If I can I will soak them in the toilet quickly before putting poop in the bag. But we haven't had too many problems.

Thanks for all the input. I have to agree with @runsyellowlites that I really don't mind doing diaper laundry. So I am thinking I will give it a try. If it is a huge pain, I can always run out and get a pack of disposables.

I never take them on vacation. It's not a vacation if I'm stuck doing laundry every other day.

We've been debating this. We have a beach vacation in July, and we'll be staying in a condo. My concern is that last year the place we stayed had the slowest dryer, and there will be 11 adults there. We're staying in a different place this year so I'm thinking about bring them and disposables and just playing it by ear.

If I was going somewhere like "our beach/lake house" & not some hotel somewhere I would most definitely take our cloth! I don't really count diaper laundry as a chore so washing while there wouldn't be a biggie to me.

I guess if you have the laundry facilities available, it wouldn't be too bad. But, while I love my cloth diapers, I have to admit that I'd want to ditch them on vacation for the mere fact that vacation with a small child is not really that and cutting out anything I can would be fine with me.

Have any of you used your cloth diapers on vacation? We are going to the beach with my parents for a week in June and I think I have decided to take our cloth diapers. We are traveling by car and staying in a condo with a washer/dryer so laundry and limited space shouldn't really be problems. Also, I am probably going to use a couple of our pocket diapers w/o an insert as swim diapers so I figured I might as well use cloth diapers the rest of the time as well.

Have any of you used your cloth diapers while traveling - were you happy with your decision or did you wish you hadn't bothered? Any tips?
