I use Finis cloth swim diapers, usually over a Little Swimmers disposable because I am terrified of having an accident in our club pool and being the reason it gets shut down for hours on a hot summer afternoon. :-) The difference between the reusable swim diaper and bikini bottoms is that the swim diaper fits tighter around the legs and waist to contain any poop, and is thicker so even liquid poops aren't likely to get into the pool. You still have to check often to make sure your little one hasn't pooped, but the reusable diapers will contain an accident. Little Swimmers alone will not, and if your baby's swimsuit isn't thick enough or tight enough, you'll have poop in the pool. Most of the time I don't put another swimsuit bottom on my daughter, but if the pool is really cold, another layer can help to keep her body temperature up. My sister is an infant swim instructor and has shared all this stuff with me, for what it is worth. At the private swim school she works at, they only have to shut the pool down for 30 minutes if they have a fecal accident, but in our club pool in my neighborhood, it can be shut down for 4 hours or more--so I am super careful with my 3 1/2 month old in the water. I wish other parents were too!

I use BG AIO diapers so I can't take anything out.... maybe I should just buy a couple of pockets.

I am using cloth pocket diapers on a regular basis, so when we get to the beach I just take the pocked-stuff out and it is a swim diaper. I still put a bathing suit bottom over the diaper just for fun. (But he is a boy, so the shorts are a little more roomy than if he was a gal. For gals, maybe you could use a size-up for the bathing suit?)

I just use bikini bottoms for her that are pretty tight. Sometimes I put a cloth diaper cover (like you use for prefolds) over the bathing suit bottoms, then her swimsuit.

Do you use them? What kind do you like best? I feel like all of the ones I see are pretty much just bathing suit bottoms.... so what happens to all of those bathing suits that my LO has already?
