I'm in a one-bedroom as well with a similar closet setup. I have her bigger clothes sorted by size and then put in those vacuumed space bags in size order under her crib.

I keep a stack of rubbremaid bins in the basement. A bin for each size, and they go back in after they're outgrown because I have two girls.

We got a lot of larger sizes as gifts; luckily, LO's closet is huge (she has a walk-in closet) so I hung up most of the bigger stuff. Onesies/PJs, I just kept folded in different bins according to size.

I have a little hanging organizer in DD's closet where I store all of the larger sizes of clothes in bins, sorted by size. Once she outgrows a size, I pull everything out of the bin with the next size up. It works great!

I also have a ton and we also save all of LO's clothes for now. We use clear plastic totes and mark it by sizes eg 3-6 months or 18-24 months, etc

Kept most in totes. You just have to be diligent about going trough them routinely! I've had her outgrow some before wearing. Oops

We get ALL of my little niece's hand-me-downs b/c she's just about exactly 1 years older than P. We get them every few months with my SIL cleans out her stuff.

I go through and sort what I know for sure we won't use and then they go back in the bag (which is generally sorted by size/range). She has tons of clothes so finding the space to actually put them up just isn't an option right now & I don't really see the need in investing in containers when I can use the free bag they came in. lol

@artbee: This is what I would suggest also! Do your boxes by size . :)

We had the same thing happen... I sorted by size but also by looking at the clothes. LO is generally in 3-6 months clothes, but she's fitting into some 9 & 12 month hand me downs - either sizing was off or stuff shrank. I pull down the boxes as soon as things start getting a little snug so we have the next size ready.

@MaisyMay: Maybe you can just separate totes and boxes into sizes to make it a little easier?

@artbee: I wish we had closet space for her, but we are in a one bedroom and she has about a foot of space in our closet where her organizer is. We're doing totes and boxes at this point.

We have dresses and nicer outfits hanging up. Someone gave me those clothes size organizers that hang in the closet, also a hand me down. Other things are just in a big tote bag in the closet.

We have been gifted with tons of hand-me-downs, especially in sizes 12m-3T, which is wonderfully generous of friends and family, but our little girl is only 12 days old! I need to sort all of this clothing by size and figure out how to store it.

We bought a few clean storage containers, but I've got a feeling we're going to need more!

Did you receive lots of hand-me-downs? How did you store them?
