I was thinking along the same lines as @LBee: - pattern for one of the girl's dresses (even the same color as the solid, but different colors fine). Maybe a small ditsy floral? For DH or the girls, I would consider a warm brown or a cranberry-ish color (I don't think that's too red to compete with fall background). I would personally stay away from the Azalea color because it comes across as too spring for fall photos for me, but a dusty rose or even a muted fuschia would be beautiful.

I think you need a pattern somewhere or something heavily textured that would read in photos, like cable knit.

If you're looking for some other solid colors, this is a cute dress from Gap: https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1106753&pcid=6436&vid=1&pid=382167032

If you like the solid look for everyone, I'd try to mix things up a little. For example, something like this:

- Green dress + patterned scarf for you
- Gray sweater for DH
- Pink tights + chambray dress + headband for DD1
- Neutral tights + pink dress + patterned scarf or cute vest for DD2

We did something similar for our Christmas Card last year. Technically, everyone was in pinks / grays / blues but I mixed in some interest with chambray and sweater/scarf textures so it didn't look too matchy matchy. Have fun!

I personally would incorporate a small pattern on at least one kid and maybe not have them matching. Maybe do one in a patterned dress and then have the other in a solid with a fun scarf? Here are some options I like in various price ranges:

http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/baby-dresses/jersey-dresses/y0325-mul/baby-multi-embroidered-spot-nostalgic-pleated-dress

http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/baby-dresses/knitted-dresses/y0327-pnk/baby-autumn-rose-pink-peculiar-pets-peculiar-pets-knitted-dress

https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1088023&pcid=47926&vid=1&pid=290887012

https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1025372&pcid=6436&vid=1&pid=356675002

https://www.carters.com/carters-baby-girl-dresses/V_121I640.html?dwvar_V__121I640_color=Color&cgid=carters-baby-girl-dresses&dwvar_V__121I640_size=12M#navID=left&start=1&cgid=carters-baby-girl-dresses
(I think this could work despite being yellow since patterned long sleeve)

https://www.gymboree.com/item/baby-girls-floral-dress-140187006.html?dwvar_140187006_color=GYM001&lang=en_US&cgid=baby-girls-collection-hello-fall#?lang=en_US&start=14
(they sell a matching headband and you could put your other daughter in a solid color and have her wear the headband)

I think you should try to mix in some patterns - a bunch of different solid outfits will match, but not coordinate (if that makes sense). I would recommend a plaid/gingham/tattersall shirt for your husband - something like one of these:

https://factory.jcrew.com/p/mens-clothing/shirts/authentic_washed_shirts/flex-washed-shirt-in-plaid/J5304?color_name=university-green-plaid

Also- if you did the pink dress, I think this cardigan from Gymboree on one of them would be really cute and incorporate your green. I actually ordered it for my daughter for our family pictures by t doesn’t work with our overall color scheme I don’t think. It’s super cute in person.

I think you could do the navy but use some accessories to make them pop- like a necklace, tights, cardigan. Or the pink would be cute. I don’t think they have to match, but it certainly is easier (for you) if they do! The azalea might be a little summery but I think it’s ok. What colors do they like? My girls love girly pastels so they are wearing pink sweaters for our fall pictures.

I think you could also incorporate a small pattern in the girls dresses our outfits- maybe patterned tights with the solid dresses or something. Or a scarf or cardigan or something.

And I like your dress and his sweater together!

ETA: you could do gray cable knit tights for the girls to bring in the gray and some texture. The only thing right now is all your dresses are a flat smooth texture so I think cable knit or layers would be good.

I love the colors you have picked, but I personally would put the girls in coordinating colors vs. exact, and maybe pull in accessories that coordinate like Mrs Lemon Lime mentioned, grey or green tights / headband / scarf or a cardigan to pull the colors together? (Maybe both girls in the blue, but their accessories are opposite?)
I would keep the grey sweater you have picked out also - no black.

@Mrsbells: that’s such a cool way to coordinate!

@Hypatia: I love your dress and that gray sweater for your husband. The girls could repeat his gray with tights. The Azalea dress with darker gray, so it’s not matchy-matchy. Primary’s Slate Gray is similar to the dark gray from Mrs. Bell’s chart. Will your daughters have accessories too like a headband or necklace?

@Mrsbells: Wow, thanks! Definitely saving that. Here's the same dresses in Azalea, the closest pink option from Primary. It might be too bright—not sure if a softer pink would be better.

We're having family photos taken by a lake in October. Our photographer advised us to wear long sleeves and to stay away from red, orange or yellow (since the background will be those colors, I guess those colors would either compete with it or we would blend in too much?).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to wear this dress with the gold leaf pendent. I'm a little stumped on how to coordinate everyone without being matchy matchy. Does that gray sweater work or should my DH go for a darker gray or even black? Should our 4 and 1 year old girls match or have different colored dresses? Is the navy blue too dark?

Style is not my thing. Any advice would be appreciated!
