I picked king cake before seeing that "no games" was an option. Shower games make me cringe, and I think DH would kill me if I took him to a co-ed shower where there were games. We're much bigger fans of regular parties with drinks, snacks, and conversation.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: it might be fun to display some photos of the mom and dad to be as babies! A way to turn it into a game would be to do a wall of photos (try to get baby pics of other family members/friends/guests) and have people guess who is who!

We had a co ed baby shower and we did the celebrity baby name game, word scramble and a multiple choice game where the host asked the parents a number of questions and the guests had to guess the answers (that was really cute)

My friend had the who can feed their spouse the baby food the fastest it was hilarious and a hit.

I had a coed baby shower. We played the price is right game (with all those little things from my registry nobody ever buys) and that was a lot of fun (although pricy for the organizer). We also played a game where someone says a name that starts with a, then b, etc... We did name the children from nostalgic television shows. They were all pretty non-gender specific games.

Depends on the group. I picked challenges b/c for a few baby showers I've been to, there were really good sports (mostly guys) and they were totally up for chugging coke from a baby bottle, tasting baby food blindfolded, etc and made the whole thing so funny and entertaining. Then I've had quieter crowds who would never want to participate in those things!

We played a version of the "shoe game" typically used for bride/grooms. That was enjoyable - if you come up w fun questions that work for your friend group. For example, who is going to give in and want to move to the suburbs first? Who will change the first diaper?
Also, we had the guys try to change a diaper on a stuffed animal blindfolded. Amusing.
A new staple at our coed showers is writing messages on newborn/size 1 diapers. They were quite funny to read in those bleary newborn days/nights

Eta - fixed typos from stupid iphone

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: hahaa... Dh and I's offspring looked like bulgy eyed aliens. It didn't help that the organizers chose the most unflattering selfies of us lol . Thank goodness DD is a lot cuter than the predictions !!!

I prefer "activities" that people can do at their leisure if they want rather than games.

The one that is always a hit is when you print out pictures of mom, pictures of dad , and people cut and paste features from each to create what the baby will look like. As long as the parents have a sense of humour it's hilarious!

Ok, no baby food. What's some other challenge type game that can be played standing up that isn't messy and in a limited space.. @lemondrop: I have been to a shower with something similar where the "mom" were on the phone. @sandy: that could be fun too.

I would do whatever to be polite but I think games are kind of cheesy and kind of ruin the mood of a good party.

My friend went to a co-ed shower that was a backyard BBQ and they played pregnant lady limbo - they tied giant pillows to the participants and they had to limbo with a giant pillow-belly. He said it was fun bc everyone has been drinking and it wasn't like everyone had to stop what they were doing and sit down to play a game. It was just something fun to watch or do but not all formal or cheesy

I had a co ed shower with the wishes for baby cards. Of DH's best guy friends in attendance, 2 of 4 filled out a card. One response was incredibly sweet, and one was hilariously funny. I treasure both. No other games. The guys mostly hung out outside.

I'm honestly not a fan of games, but I'd pick the trivia.

Please don't make people taste baby food or sniff melted candy bars. Just don't do it.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yeah I agree, tasting the baby food or eating stuff out of baby diapers are not my favorites. The bottle drinking was more fun in theory than it was in reality - and it only took like 5 minutes for the whole thing so it was a lot of prep for something that you could miss if you went to the bathroom!

@lemondrop: Multi-tasking game sounds funny! That's cool.

Do them all, then whoever wants to participate can. We went to a co-ed where the guys ended up outside drinking beer while we played games.

At one shower recently, we had a fun game where we tied up a clothesline and had to talk on a fake phone while carrying a fake baby and hanging up laundry with clothespins (most hung up wins, with tiny baby socks to hang too)- that was hilarious what people said on the phone while trying to concentrate on laundry and not drop the baby.

I voted for "do all of the games" because we would participate in whatever the hostess/host planned. I would say 1-2 games for a co-ed shower is a good number. One you didn't mention that was entertaining at my sister's coed shower was everyone racing to drink beer from a bottle. Those who were pregnant or didn't want to do beer could do whatever else, milk, juice, etc. It was gross and funny, good way to incorporate alcohol if its that kind of a crowd.

Which of these games would you or your SO participate in at a co-ed shower?

1) Suggest a baby name :teamgreen:
2) Guess the baby's sex :teamgreen:
3) Wishes for baby/ Mad-libs
4) Word games (identify baby animal, celebrity kid name, word scamble aka baby babble, finish the lullaby etc.)
5) King cake (find/eat the baby, get a prize)
6) Challenge (match the socks, taste & alphabetize baby food, oversized baby block puzzle)
7) Parents to be Trivia (similar to Newlywed game)
