Baby's not here yet, but we just bought an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper to use for the first 5-6 months. We were able to find one in great condition on Craigslist for only $60; brand new they're about $200! After you're done using it as a co-sleeper, you can use it as a playpen. It's much sturdier than the pack n play, and you "attach" it to your bed so it's supposed to be much more convenient. It also folds up for travel.

E slept in the PnP bassinet for the first 6 weeks and then transitioned to his crib in the nursery. We still use the PnP when we travel.

He has slept in our bed, in his bouncy chair and in the pack and play. In the early months, he mainly slept in his snugbunny bouncy chair. At 8 months, he's still in our room. Starts out the night in the pack n play and then comes to our bed.

We used a Pack and Play pulled up against the bed. I think if I had known about the Arms Reach co-sleeper I would have used that instead, but I guess I saved a bunch of money by just getting the Pack N Play.

We still use the Pack N Play whenever we travel, and DD sleeps really well in it!

We co-sleep & co-bed but we used a bassinet for about a month, then the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper until she was 6 months, and now her crib is side-carred to our bed.

(6 months and on she was/is in bed with us)

We are trying to transition her to sleeping in her crib, which is side-carred to our bed.

Mine did sleep in our bed most of the time (unplanned), but the rest of the time he slept in the PnP (with the bassinet) at the foot of our bed.

We have enough room for her full size crib, so that's where she slept. She just turned 6 months, but were going away in a couple of weeks and we'll be co sleeping there, so we're waiting to move he to her room till we get back.

#1 slept in our bed. That's what she needed (and I know, I went against the data. I'm sorry universe!)
#2 slept in a PnP next to the bed for 4 months and then transitioned to her own room.

I'm planning to use a Rock and Play, but I not voting since LO isn't here yet so of course it could change. That's what my sister used and I love how convenient it is to move it wherever I need-- sleeping next to me in the bedroom, living room, in the baby's room-- totally easy.
I don't think I'll use it at all after 4-6 months but for the price and convenience, I think it's worth it. (Well, plus I'm borrowing my friend's, so the price is $0).

For those that co-slept (shared a room not a bed) with their infant, where did the baby sleep?

How much use did you get out of the temporary bed after the baby was transitioned into their own crib/ room?
