Without them he would have been far below our mattress and not really easily accessible. (that, combined with paranoia due to a scary amazon review , made me stop using it as a co-sleeper. instead right now its a basinette for supervised naps.) I know you can get extensions to raise the level, but am wondering if anyone here has done this! </p>
