I was so anxious about this transition, and then it ended up happening mostly by accident. DH's parents, brother and grandmother all came to visit and decided to stay with us. With all the house guests, DH and I ended up sleeping on an air mattress on the floor of LO's nursery with her in the crib. When our guests left, we just had her keep sleeping there while we moved back into the bedroom.

We went from co-sleeping to sleeping (together) in his room on a floor mattress to sleeping independently on his bed. It was a gradual transition but it went very well!

@Mrsjets: thanks! This gives me hope that eventually he'll be able to sleep more independently. Not looking forward to teething though :(

We co-slept until J was tossing and turning too much (9 months ish I think). We tried to move him into his crib in his room but it was just too stressful for all of us - so we moved his crib into our room. He still sleeps in it in our room at 12 months. He falls asleep in it alone just fine (sometimes a few minutes of crying) and only wakes up once (unless he's teething...ugh the teething!).

Right now we co-sleep with our DS (7 months), but I was wondering when and how other co-sleeping mamas have dealt with the transition.
