I do the whole rigamorole for the 10 steps here. It's just too dang cold. I would have thought a fleece jacket would be plenty warm for Texas?

It was 6 degrees here last week and we just wrap in our own coats and take him inside. We park right outside the door and he has snow pants on, so not worth the effort. It would be colder to try and wrangle him into the coat, unless I crawled into the backseat and shut the car doors.

We always have lo in her light fleece and put her coat on to walk to the car. Take it off to get in her seat, put it back on when we get out to go I somewhere. It's a little annoying but what can you do!?

We have a garage and park about 10 steps from the daycare door, so we just make a run for it, sans coat. I keep a blanket in the car and drape both the blanket and coat over her. If we park further than 10 steps away, I usually put her coat on before we get out.

I'm in Ontario, so very cold right now! With the LO I nanny, I put her coat on backwards and hold it closed at the back, so when I put her in the carseat I can just pull it off and strap her in, and then vice versa when I take her out.

Honestly, she usually wears a long sleeved and hoodie and I put a hat on her. For the ten foot walk into T's house, I don't bother with a coat or blanket. I don't have one on, either....I keep a blanket in the car if my car isn't warm but I don't do pick up, so I haven't had this problem

Wondering this too! I always get the side eye for not having coats on the girls though and constantly get asked "where's her coat?!"

We also live in Texas and I would probably just do what you do. I never put her coat on to walk out to the car & I usually put it on her once we get where ever we are going.

I have heated parking but I dash her in really fast or just put her jacket on in the car after we get somewhere, before heading into the cold. I do a hooded fleece and a Patagonia nano which is pretty thin but warm. Her super warm coat we put on later.

We live in a cold climate. I don't put a jacket on little one, just a blanket I keep in the car, but don't wrap him in usually. I do keep a jacket in the car in case I'm surprised by having to park far away or walk somewhere. Otherwise, it's hat and mittens, and walking quickly. He would get colder in the time it takes to put the jacket on than to just get in the building. We keep a snowsuit at school, so I think the 6 second walk is fine I rarely do a coat when we go to stores either. Not worth the effort.

Could you put her in a light fleece? I live in Wisconsin and as long as it is around 30 degrees I just bring her into daycare with her fleece which is safe for her to have on in the car seat.

I live in Maine (so, real winter!) and have the same setup with an attached garage. I drape a fleece blanket I keep in the car over LO in the morning, and when I take her into daycare, I still carry her so I just wrap her up in that fleece blanket and carry her coat in. I know what you mean about feeling cruddy about not putting a coat on your kid, but it is only a couple steps to daycare, and between being inside my coat and the fleece blanket I',m sure she is plenty warm!

We live in Cali and I live with no jacket. My son rarely wears a jacket (but can wear a fleece or sweatshirt). So he is plenty warm most of the time.

Our car is in a garage, so in the morning we can go out to the car and it isn't too chilly. But what do you all do if you drop LO off at school? It seems overkill to take her out of her seat, put on her jacket, and walk the 10 steps into her daycare. But I feel like a cruddy parent for never having a jacket on my kid. Lately we've been draping it over her as we walk in.

What do you do? We live in a pretty mild winter climate (Texas).
