While cocaine exposure would affect how a baby is at birth &amp; initial development, poverty just about dictates a persons complete perspective, self worth, and self viewed ability to excel long into adult &amp; usually down through the generations even. Whilst cocaine is never good, the effects of poverty are so much further reaching, long lasting, and powerful in their impact (in a negative way). I didn't even read the article yet but I'm going off my experience as a social worker, having worked with both populations (drug users and impoverished families).
