@blackbird: I like keeping the onesie (short sleeved) on over the diaper just in case of leaky diapers-- I figure it is one extra layer of protection. It takes so long to dry and we only have one, so I don't want any laundry emergencies if I can help it :)

And yes, she sleeps better in it than the swaddle-- she CAN get her hands to her mouth if she tries, but they don't flail about.

@Anagram: I got the 3-6 month size, which is the smaller one. It's definitely still big on her, but she is a peanut and only 12 weeks old (11 pounds and change at her last dr appt.) So the arms are fine, but her little legs often pull up into the main body of the suit instead of her feet sticking out (so, how they are cold is beyond me). I'm a bad one to judge if things run small since she is still only just fitting into certain 0-3 month clothes!

@Foodnerd81: what size did you get? Is it true that they run small?

we just always did socks. her fingers are still cold sometimes but i can't exactly put mittens on her! We only ever did a diaper. we played with a long sleeve onesie but it didn't make a difference. one night, i forgot the onesie and since then, we've only ever done socks

i'm glad it's working for you! It was great for us, for about a month!!!

I've been thinking about this too. Right now LO is also just in a short sleeved onesie in the sleep suit because she was getting warm, but her hands and feet seem a little cool. The hands I figure just stay exposed regardless of what they sleep in? For feet I was thinking about switching to a cotton long sleeve footed sleeper on cooler nights. I'm still concerned I'll find her super sweaty in that in the morning though.

Glad the sleep suit is working for you! My LO sleeps better in it than she did in the swaddle also.

I put my LO in long-sleeved onesies in her sleep sack. You can always add non-grippy socks too, for cold tootsies (I have done that a few times.).

We switched C over to the Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit recently and she seems to sleep better in it than in the swaddle. It's finally cooling off which is good, since she would get a little too warm in it last week when it was warmer out.

However, this morning her little hands and feet were so cold! It didn't seem to bother her-- she slept 8 hours!-- but considering it wasn't even that cold, and her room was a completely comfortable temperature, I'm concerned.

We have just put her in a short sleeved onesie in the suit so far, as she gets warm in the suit. Plus, she is still a little small for it so her legs are usually pulled up into the body of the suit, though her arms stay in the sleeves fine.

What do/did you do about the little hands and feet getting cold? Footed pjs would help with the feet but I'm worried she would get too hot or that they would get tangled inside the suit and wake her.
