@littlejoy: @MrsHoneyC: You know what.. now that you guys are mentioning this... The other night (maybe last night, but I think two nights ago) she bit it when she was walking - right into my knee. She had NO reaction afterwards (you know.. I kept waiting, and waiting), so I was really surprised, but that absolutely could have been it!

I know canker sores, or bit lips are a pain in the tush, but I'm honestly glad it doesn't look like a cold sore to you guys.

@blackbird: it could definitely be a canker sore.. thank you!!

That looks really big for a canker sore, but like @MrsHoneyC: said, she might have fallen and hurt her lip with her teeth (which would then cause a canker sore like sore on her mouth). I would get some teething gel for comfort, and do salt water on a washcloth or peroxide on a q-tip (please verify that with a doc). Poor babe.

And no, I would not guess this is a cold sore.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: i would guess if she is teething that she might have bit the inside of her lip / fell and hurt it somehow. I would guess its a canker sore. They're more irritating i find that anything but I'm just a friendly face on the internet. if you think your LO needs to be seen by a dr. totally take her in better safe than sorry. I hope the saline helps a little.

any chance it's a canker sore? I get them and the best thing to ever work is white vinegar.

@MrsHoneyC: that's what it might be called - canker sore! that's different than a cold sore, right? DH and I both don't get cold sores, so I was really hoping it wasn't that or she's kissing someone else! :silly:

The solution you talked about makes great sense. We'll try it tonight. Thank you so much for the idea!!

Awe poor babe, i would try making a salt water saline solution and using a soft cloth wiping her mouth out twice a day. It might help her a bit. I hope it heals up soon, canker sores are no fun for adults never mind little ones. (hugs)

We'll probably call the doc if this doesn't go away soon, but any ideas what this could be? She's had her hands in her mouth quite a bit lately, but she also had 4 teeth coming in at once. Our sitter noticed it this morning and said it looks bigger than cold sore :(. Poor girl, I feel so bad that we didn't notice earlier. She's seemed fine lately, but has definitely been sensitive to us brushing her teeth. I thought it was just that she didn't like it! Any experience with your LO having something like this? She's 19 months.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. It was a screen print of a video where she was fussing.
