Keeping a close eye on him though as his nose is still a faucet and his cough sounds phlegmy.</p> <p>These suggestions have been really helpful! I sit with him in a steamy bathroom 2x a day, use saline and suction (he haaaates it), he sleeps on an elevated mattress, we keep the cool mist humidifier on almost constantly, and we use an all natural chest rub. If the ear tugging continues along with the fever, a trip to the ped might not be a bad idea to rule out ear infection. </p> <p>Our first winter with both LOs were really rough. Sickness constantly. I hope he slept ok. It's so sad to see them sick. I always get a pit in my stomach. Sounds like you're doing what you can. When my boys colds are bad we do this:</p> <p>- extra vitamin c during the day (oranges for example if he's having solids)<br /> - steam up bathroom and do tub<br /> - saline spray<br /> - nose Frieda for the baby<br /> - matys (all natural Vicks) on feet and dab on chest<br /> - I have a crib wedge to keep the baby elevated<br /> - cool mist humidifier<br /> - extra nursing or fluids.... that's really all you can do. </p> <p>I also do Tylenol of extra miserable. And if he's still pulling his ear and/or running a fever I would get his ears checked for infection. </p> <p>Hang in there! The first winter is always rough. My LO was sick for two weeks every two weeks for 4 months. His fever doesnt sound that high. Fevers also spike the highest at night. I always found advil works better than tylenol for breaking Fevers. They also get ear infections so easily so it easily could be. There is just so much going around right now! I do think you are doing everything you can, it just sucks. Are you able to elevate his head while he sleeps (like raise the crib mattress?). I know that never worked well for my babies because the moved around so much in their sleep.<br /> Also, once he is feeling better we should get together, maybe one morning while my big one is in school. I know the first winter is supposed to be rough, but I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing and just want him to be comfortable.</p> <p>Today my normally happy baby was/is absolutely miserable. Screaming through bathtime, being clingy, nose like a faucet, coughing and a temp of 100.7 (with the forehead thermometer). We're currently trying to get him to bed and he's still screaming and my heart is beat up. We did give him Tylenol but I dont even know if that was the right call because his fever isn't that high. Sat in the steamy shower and the cool mist humidifier is running. Just exhausted and feel awful for him. </p> <p>Help. What else should/could I do for him? </p>
