I have a friend who did that because she could prove that her employers were verbally abusive, etc. But it was really difficult, even though she had tons of evidence to back up her claim. I collected after I got laid off in my 3rd trimester. Her finances are a little tight but she really wants to resign (or is dreaming about it) and thinks she can collect unemployment for a few months before she looks for a new job.</p> <p>Can you quality for unemployment if you resign? I thought the benefits only apply when you are laid off or get fired? </p>
