Check out kuler.adobe.com for color palette browsing :) I would recommend hiring a designer for a logo at least, since it sticks with you for a long time.

Great! I PM'd you. Thanks so much. This is hard! Everything I come up with looks amateur-ish and sometimes too childlike.

Hmmm. As soon as you said "horseback riding," I thought of a deep green color to echo pine trees. You could use that and an orange? I'm happy to give feedback on your site if you PM me.

ETA: I'm not a professional graphic or web designer, but I play one on TV. I actually do a lot of this at work. Will tell you more by PM.

I'm hoping there might be some brilliant marketing/branding experts or graphic designers or website designers out here. My partner and I are in the process of starting a nonprofit horseback riding program for kids in our area. It's low income area where kids don't have many opportunities for activities that instill confidence, communication skills, leadership, empathy, and so many other valuable life skills. We are hoping to change that by offering riding lessons, day camps, horsemanship camps, and ideally programs through local social service agencies.

I'm basically in charge of getting everything set up. That includes a website. I've been using GoDaddy to build a website and I just think I have a horrible eye for color and what looks professional and yet fun and friendly. I've been reading about picking a color scheme and being consistent across platforms. Soon we will be ordering t shirts, hats, etc with our logo on it (which is a black and white line drawing of a kid hugging a horse's head) and we want to have a color scheme picked out. I also need to finalize the website. I want it to be fun and friendly, as this is a fun kids program, but it also has to look professional enough to appeal to donors and parents as well.

I am happy to share the actual website with anyone who is interested so you can get an idea of the content. We are not set on anything else, the fonts, colors, etc can be changed.

Hope this is interesting to some of you! If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I'm open to anything!
