@babynumber1: we don't really have to mess with the formula part. The daycare provides it (and diapers and wipes!) So they take care of the entire formula part of the equation

If it were me, I would just do formula for now at daycare and save your pumped milk for supplementing at home. Hopefully your supply will increase and you can drop the formula. Trying to juggle both at daycare would be confusing and you don't want to waste your liquid gold!

Have you asked your daycare what they would prefer? They might not reoffer a bottle but if she's screaming again in an hour because she's hungry they will have to do something so I would probably ask them to offer the breastmilk first and then if she's still hungry or is hungry again in an hour, give formula.

LO gets both breastmilk and formula throughout the day (usually nursing and then bottles of formula. I haven't been pumping very often lately). I pretty much play it by ear everyday. I nurse and then if she still seems hungry, I give her a bottle. Sometimes it is immediately after nursing, sometimes it is an hour later.

I feel like this won't work at daycare. They need to be able to feed her until satisfied and tend to other babies.

They also won't re offer a bottle, and I have no idea how much she is taking via nursing. Since I don't produce enough to meet her needs entirely, do I just make small bottles of breastmilk knowing the staff is going to supplement with formula at every feeding? That way she'll definitely drink all the breastmilk I pump and none will get wasted, hopefully? Or should I just save up all my pumping into one or two bottles earlier in the day and just let her have formula for the later feedings?

Im not sure which is going to be the best thing for LO and what is going to be easier on me/the daycare staff. The lactation consultants have always told me that it is best if she can get a little breastmilk at every feeding to coat her tummy before getting formula, but when I asked brought that up to them at my breastfeeding group the other day, they said it wasn't a big deal (maybe because LO is older now -almost 10 weeks).

Any advice? What do you do?
