I do the same as @MaisyMay. I don't really think it's warming the bottle bc I only keep it under the running water for 5-10 seconds. If it makes you feel better, you can run it under room temp water. After 30 seconds the fat will be off the sides.

I swirl as much as I can stand it, pour 99% of the milk into the bag, then shake the rest of the fat off. I figure I'm only shaking 1% of the milk (and breaking up those enzymes or fats or complex protein or whatever it is that I'm doing wrong) and getting off all of the fatty goodness in the bottle.

I swirl, but I also run the sides under warm water to get all of the fat to rejoin.

@mrskc: Okay... swirling instead. I wish the article said that! But you think it's OK to freeze after it's been refrigerated? Just don't thaw it?

I also wouldn't warm milk then freeze it. And swirling will mix the fat in and even get the fat off the sides of the bottle. You just have to swirl for a while.

I wouldn't warm the milk after it's been refrigerated and then freeze it. And yes, you're not supposed to shake breast milk. I swirl it. I just keep swirling and swirling until it's combined. Of course I don't get all the fat off the sides of the bottle.

I couldn't seem to find this answer online? If I want to combine breast milk (or even just transfer BM from a bottle) that has been in the refrigerator to a freezer bag, is it okay to thaw it a bit under warm water? I ask, because the milk separates with the fatty part sticking to the bottle. But not sure if the refrigerating, thawing, and then freezing compromises the milk?

Also, I just read this thing on NOT shaking breast milk? Again, if you don't thaw and shake it, the fattier milk doesn't get combined?
