@citymouse: Yep - i've been charting since about September or so - and while it did show a temp shift and I got positive OPKs and everything, I wanted to REALLY make sure I was ovulating. Here is my chart if you are curious, my cycles are pretty awful. I only am showing charts where we were actively TTC, though. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3d06b9

@pui: ugh trust me I totally feel your pain! At the beginning of every cycle, like right now, I have no way of knowing if this will be a "normal" one or a 50 day cycle - I am so jealous of people who can pretty much correctly predict when they will O. Must be nice.

@chibee: This is exactly what happened to me too. My first cycles were all very normal 28-31 days... and my last two cycles were 41 and 51 days! I'm currently on CD36 of this cycle and hoping to O within the next couple of days...

@citymouse: It took me just about a year for my cycles to normalize and for me to feel back to myself when I came off of BC! I lost so much weight and my hair really thinned out (looked horrible), and I got the worst hormonal acne during that time! It was ridiculous! My body reacts so strangely coming on and off of things like that. So it could definitely take a little longer!

@lindsayinnyc oh man, barely any cramping! bodies/hormones are so weird haha!

@chibee were you charting to see if you ovulated? that has also been recommended to me. glad you were able to find out that you were ovulating!!

@citymouse: I thought i might have PCOS for a bit because of the ridiculous cycles i was having (ranging from 33-49 days) so i had blood work done to make sure i was ovulating but i was definitely ovulating! I think your hormones are probably trying to just level themselves out. I've been off BC since May/June 2012 - so it's taking me a long time but I think everyone's body reacts differently!

This is my 4th cycle post-BC. I went off it in December. My first two cycles were fairly long, last one seemed a lot more normal. Haven't noticed much when it comes to break outs or anything but last cycle I was definitely moody just before AF! Ironically, my cycles are lighter and shorter than pre-BC or even while I was on BC! And cramps are nearly non-existant. It's really bizarre.

@lioneyes yes! that is exactly what it reminds me of, high school. yeesh!

@chibee good to know. thats kind of how mine were too. Pretty regular for cycles 2-4, then started getting wonky. when I mention the cramping/heavy flow some people ask me about PCOS. did people ever ask you about that?

Actually, my OB explained that when you come off BC, it's still sort of coursing through us and it takes a while for our hormones to take over and THEN figure out wtf they're doing since they haven't really been working for a while. For me, my cycles were pretty regular the first couple cycles off BC, then after 5-6 months everything just went haywire. My cycles are completely irregular and PMS has been out of control. They should level themselves out in time, but it's been... fun while all this is going on. Hang in there, we'll normalize eventually!

@sugar.biscuit I was just considering starting to temp. I am a little concerned about doing it because I am already an anxious person, but maybe it will really help me!

We are woman. Is there such a thing as normalized hormone levels? I'm 13 months PBC & am still moody. I've been on progestrone since our MC in january so that plays a big part in it as well. Are you charting? Of so I'd make a note of it for a few months to see if there is a pattern & discuss it with your Dr.

Im 6 months off BC now and my PMS is getting increasingly worse. Two nights ago I suddenly burst into tears and couldn't stop. Even when my Husband made me laugh, it only made me cry harder. I also have been so hyper critical toward him. Why aren't you parking in that spot? Why are you asking me that question? (Poor guy!!) And in general, just irritated. This has been happening a few days before AF shows.

Did this happen to anyone else? My hormones surely should be normalized after 6 full months, yes? Any thoughts or stories would be appreciated!
